9 new strings appeared just as I was preparing the ArtPaint release. We'll release anyway, but anyone who wants has about 5 hours to have their's included...

When I boot the live image of Haiku B4 written to a flash drive, how do I install it to a hard drive partition?
bjorkintosh has joined #haiku
<nosycat>
The installer should be in the Applications menu, or you can start it right from the welcome screen, instead of entering live mode.
<qwebirc8337>
Ok. I don't get an option whether to use live mode or install at boot, but I see it in the applications menu. Thanks.

for GSoC, is one of the requirements when submitting the proposal an outline of the code you will be writing to solve the project? Was just confused on the amount of code required in the proposal itself

Oh nice, a kernel panic on my first boot :P
<nosycat>
Sorry to hear that. You're on 64-bit?
<BrunoSpr>
More Info about your hardware and Haiku specs should be a good start to help you
<BrunoSpr>
64bit or 32bit?
<BrunoSpr>
Beta 4 or nightly?
<HaikuUser>
64-bit. Beta 4.
<HaikuUser>
Running on a Lenovo Thinkpad T520 if that matters. IT happened when opening Haiku Depot.
<nosycat>
64-bit is known to still crash now and then. A bug report might help.

If it happens again, that is.
<HaikuUser>
Right. I don't suppose a log is saved anywhere through reboot? This IRC client is running on the system in question and I rebooted w/o thinking about getting a photo.

there's /boot/system/var/log/previous_syslog but in case of a real KDL crash, there's probably not the important parts in it.

is entering the haikuporter chroot broken? I just geht 'PS1' as output and then it fails instead of entering the chroot
jess has joined #haiku
<jmairboeck>
ah, it is trying to run the patch function, maybe that is broken indeed
<jmairboeck>
given that this runs normally outside the chroot

I think I found the problem why the lilypond build on x86 didn't find msgfmt during the build: because I had to strip '.' (the current directory from $PATH and did so the wrong way. I created a PR to fix that.
<jmairboeck>
but the chroot didn't work still after patching. It did return successfully, but still not inside the chroot
