I've just booted the beta4 ISO, when the installer dialog pops up, I hit Try Haiku... then I can mount "Haiku ESP", and a file BOOTX64.EFI exists under "/haiku esp/EFI/BOOT/"
<Miccet>
interesting. reading the guide i'm supposed to install haiku first, and then before rebooting, mount the efi partition and find it there.

From that install media... "/boot/system/data/platform_loaders" contains the mentioned files too.
<OscarL>
but of course, if from that install media, I try to mount my HDD installation... "/Haiku-[500GB]" in my case...
<OscarL>
"/Haiku-[500GB]/system/system/data/platform_loaders" will not exists, as that is only visible when the haiku base package is loaded.

Miccet: I think that you're supposed to mount that "haiku esp" partition I've mentioned. That's the only EFI partition that would exists, for example if your system has a new or emtpy HDD anyway.
<OscarL>
the "haiku esp" from the install media. The note that reads "As of R1/beta3, all of the available bootloaders can be found in (/boot)/system/data/platform_loaders on the disk where you installed Haiku (not on the Live disk/USB)."...
<OscarL>
I guess it is trying to say... if from an existing (booted from) Haiku install, you mount the ISO... you won't find "/system/system/data/platform_loaders"
<OscarL>
that folder/dir is "virtual" (part of the packagefs), and only gets populated after the haiku-r1beta4xxxxxx.hpkg gets activated.
<OscarL>
can be confusing... and my English sucks, and I'm terrible describing things :-D
<Miccet>
haha no it makes sense, i'm gonna have to try it. although i have a efi partition on my secondary drive already where grub is installed.
<Miccet>
i figured i could just find this file and move it there, but i'm no expert in the boot process
