ChanServ changed the topic of #aarch64-laptops to: Linux support for AArch64 Laptops (Asus NovaGo TP370QL - HP Envy x2 - Lenovo Mixx 630 - Lenovo Yoga C630)
<steev> if you wanna play with the initial loudness, edit the /usr/share/alsa/ucm2/Qualcomm/sc8280xp/HiFi.conf file and change the two 5000s in there to... different number
<steev> v7 of the bluetooth sent

<steev> hopefully i addressed everything
<HdkR> Cost of postage is high for Bluetooth
<mayco> steev: I could be mistaking noise for signal here, but I'm not seeing the memory corruption with jhovold's new branch (same kernel config), which makes me think you might have a buggy patch he doesn't
<mayco> not exactly sure what use that information is to you right now, but figured I should mention it nonetheless

<steev> which branch are you using?
<steev> i haven't seen it here, and i compile things pretty heavily, kernels, kali packages

<martiert> hmmmm... so nothing in alsamixer should be touched to get unmuted the speaker? Cause even the issue with not finding the card has been resolved, and alsamixer starts, there is no sound coming out of the speakers. Not even when putting my ear all the way into them
<steev> dmesg output please?
<steev> also what are you using to play things
<steev> alsamixer is also.... rather old...

<steev> martiert: ah, one thing i suppose you could try... ditch your asound.state and reboot
godvino has joined #aarch64-laptops
<Guest8412> I tried using firefox, and ditched my asound.state. Well, me an alsamixer kind of goes together :P I like old tools that has been with me for ages :)
<steev> i bet you still use ifconfig too :P
Guest8412 is now known as martiert_work
<martiert_work> hahaha, that one I have actually switched from :P

<steev> so alsaucm listcards shows it?
<martiert_work> jepp. Gives me a LENOVO-21BXCT01WW-ThinkPadX13sGen1 card
<steev> do you have paplay or pavucontrol?
<martiert_work> I have paplay
<martiert_work> guess I have to install pusleaudio for that as well then
<steev> i use pipewire, but sure
<steev> and wireplumber? i think
<steev> i'll be honest, i don't really understand the audio stack at all anymore
<steev> and alsamixer always has like 5000 entries and no idea wtf 99% of them mean
<martiert_work> yeah, on my desktops alsamixer only shows a few, sensible things. The audio stack was simpler back then. Now I just use whatever works, and where audio over HDMI isn't too much of a pain
<steev> i haven't tried any sort of audio over the hdmi, just the speakers, but you're saying that isn't even working for you
<martiert_work> I haven't tried audio over HDMI with this, as I don't really need that on a laptop. But the speakers aren't working either, no
<martiert_work> I just needed to use pulseaudio to get it to work
godvino has quit [Quit: WeeChat 3.6]
<martiert_work> guess I should stop going straight to getting pure alsa to work, and get with the times....

<martiert_work> so many true and trusted tools I have had to let go. ifconfig, alsamixer, x11. I'm feeling old :P
<steev> if it helps, wayland is 20 years old, it isn't young :P
<martiert_work> steev: thanks a lot, both for your help with me specifically, but also for the work put into getting this device up and running. Also big thanks to johan and srinivas. I love having a capable aarch64 laptop, which boots in seconds after unlocking the disk
<martiert_work> I remove my thanks, you are now on my shitlist :P I remember when wayland was the next thing to come, but so unpolished nobody could use it. Of course, that part was true for about 10 years, but still.
<steev> lol
<steev> you can still use xorg though, i use it here
<martiert_work> yeah, I swap a bit back and forth. not everything I use likes wayland yet. But I love having the same config for both sway and i3
<martiert_work> "same", they are created by the same script, and are therefor identical in functionality and look
<martiert_work> next step is figure out how to read the battery status, which looks like should be possible. But that's for later. Guess the people paying my bills wants me to do some actual work for some time
<steev> i use upower there, but waybar is able to read it just fine here
<steev> status of stuff should be in /sys - but iirc, clover says that https://github.com/steev/linux/commit/51f91f863857a27c495a8d74fca2060a4edbbea1 this is needed
baozich has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<martiert_work> yeah, I haven't found it in /sys, so i3status which populates waybar for me can't find it. But it also expects it to be in the form `/sys/class/power_supply/XXXX%d` so looks like I can't use the built in battery fetching from that
baozich has joined #aarch64-laptops
<martiert_work> but upower works. Or well, it is in /sys here I see, just not on the format i3status wants it to be
<steev> and pd-mapper is running?
<martiert_work> pd-mapper is running. Which I guess would be necessary for upower to work(?)
<steev> well, the battery requires them
<steev> and battery charging
<martiert_work> aaaah, I found another path which might be what I need. `/sys/devices/platform/pmic-glink/pmic_glink.power-supply.0` which is what upower is watching
<steev> sys/class/power_supply should have qcom-battmgr
<martiert_work> they do, but those are not on a format i3status likes. It needs a number associated with the device for some reason
<martiert_work> seems like I have to upgrade from i3status to i3status-rs, another trusted friend to scrap :P
