jessicah: i have a client / server architecture. So i can separate the verifier backend from the interface : network protocol (sendinf files through netcat) or my future HAiku GUI

FOSDEM happens online this weekend, if you are on Matrix you can join that room and help us welcome people interested about Haiku: https://matrix.to/#/#haiku-stand:fosdem.org

[haiku/website] davidkaroly 5e903d7 - update build instructions for ARM (#577)
<Niklas[m]>
Can you please invite me to the room?Fractal has that annoying bug that it always fails joining rooms,but in Zom on my phone I can hopefully accept an invite.

PulkoMandy: the game play is all done, it's just the finishing touches, like a status bar and maybe a toolbar for new/undo/redo :)

since a few days, the first opening of Terminal takes 9s to launch, instead of 1 or 2s before. Do others experience such lag too ?
<Niklas[m]>
No,launches instantly here
<Anarchos>
Niklas[m] i click on desktop then "alt+t" to open it
<Niklas[m]>
I use the start menu,but I doubt that makes a difference
<Anarchos>
Niklas[m] even for very first launch ?
<Niklas[m]>
You mean after booting?Yes.Or after a fresh install?Haven't tried that for a long time.
<Anarchos>
Niklas[m] just after booting
<Anarchos>
ok. i wonder what makes mine so long
<Niklas[m]>
Sometimes computers are weird.
<Niklas[m]>
I had a similar issue with Midnight Commander recently,but it fixed itself after a few days xD
<Anarchos>
Niklas[m] i just hate when things are not immediately responsive....
<Niklas[m]>
I can understand that
<Niklas[m]>
I did OS-hopping once again only a few days ago exactly for that reason.
<Anarchos>
what is OS-hopping ?
<Niklas[m]>
Like distrohopping,but without limiting myself to the systems built on top of the Linux kernel
<Anarchos>
Niklas[m] sorry i don't understand the word 'hopping'
<Niklas[m]>
Moved my surfing+chatting activities from Linux to OpenIndiana.I still don't have a Matrix client,but Firefox is so much more responsive.It was absolutely worth it.
<Anarchos>
is it like changing from Os to another rapidly ?
<Niklas[m]>
Yes
<Anarchos>
did you try menuetOS ?
<Niklas[m]>
No,it doesn't support Wifi and much other hardware :/
<Anarchos>
what is openindiana ?
<jessicah>
Anarchos: terminal is slow to launch for me too
<jessicah>
but I just noticed the username, it's a different Alex Smith
<jessicah>
heh

(AGMS) Yup, that's the Alex Smith from the UK. Back at University there were three of us, so I had to specify more initials.
<Anarchos>
AGMS sorry to hear that
<Anarchos>
it is a pity to be taken as someone else
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Well, unless you're part of a hive mind. Then it's OK. :-)
<jessicah>
I remember being at a relatively small event, and there were like 10 Jessica's, haha
<jessicah>
was crazy
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Steves and Phils have been common at various places I've worked.
<B2IA>
(AGMS) And I can't remember someone's name if it's John. There are just too many.
<jessicah>
;-)
