Is there a proper way to make a desktop shortcut to a website? One way seems to be to have a shellscript call open or webpositive explicitly, but that is a bit ehhh. I tried adding a file with type application/x-vnd.Be.URL.https, but instead of the content webpositive will try to open the path (as a file: uri). It seems to me that i may be missing a mechanism?
<jessicah>
look at a bookmark file, that's what web+ creates
<nephele>
Ah, that makes sense, thanks!
<nephele>
made myself a link for neverssl... maybe we can have a captive portal detection in the future (iirc there is some protocol for this now)

yeah it replaces the loader and the syscall interface with its own…

Software updater wants me to de-install libreoffice
<AGMS>
Looks like something got mangled, bbjimmy_64.
<AGMS>
Does a full sync in pkgman work?
<bbjimmy_64>
package libreoffice-7.2.0.4-2 requires lib:libpoppler>=104.0.0, but none of the providers can be installed
<AlienSoldier>
how does image preview need to be set in tracker. reading it is fixed in the report but i can't see them
<AGMS>
That also happens when they switch compilers from gcc2 to gcc8+
<bbjimmy_64>
- keep poppler-20.11.0-3 from excluded repository
<AlienSoldier>
so far i have checked "generate image thumbnail". Also restarted tracker.
<AlienSoldier>
r55843, so the fix should be in
<augiedoggie>
AlienSoldier: are the files identified as images, i have to right click on them before tracker will start generating a thumbnail
<AGMS>
bbjimmy_64, maybe manually drag the libreoffice packages out of the system directory to save them, reboot, then try installing LibraOffice again?
<bbjimmy_64>
I did pkgman update and libreoffice still runs
<AlienSoldier>
augiedoggie yes. the icon does not look different that said
<augiedoggie>
i don't know, i turned the feature off because it was behaving badly
<AlienSoldier>
augiedoggie weird, it work now in another directory. I guess some jpeg are not compliant.
<augiedoggie>
heh
<AlienSoldier>
in most directory i don't want it but in a picture directory it make sense
<AGMS>
LibreOffice still runs but isn't installed? Or did you have two of them installed?
<AlienSoldier>
augiedoggie some require clicking, some don't. I guess that depend if i got them with wget or webpositive.
<AlienSoldier>
some don't work even after clicking even if they load fine in imageviewer
Uityyy has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<augiedoggie>
i think webpositive sets the mimetype of the file when it downloads, the other need to be identified by tracker
<bbjimmy_64>
AGMS it didn't work, it installed upgrade package poppler-20.11.0-3 to 22.01.0-1 from repository HaikuPorts and upgrade package poppler_qt5-20.11.0-3 to 22.01.0-1 from repository HaikuPorts
<AGMS>
Possibly someone set up LibreOffice with bad dependency version numbers.
<bbjimmy_64>
I can't onstall the proper packages over the ones pkgman full=sync put in there.
Uityyy has joined #haiku
<B2IA>
(AGMS) And of course HaikuPorts builds packages requiring the latest version, even though an older version of a dependency would work.
<AGMS>
You might have to throw everything away (old packages) and start fresh. Currently doing that - setting up a new Haiku nightly install to see if I can build it, old installs are too different.
<bbjimmy_64>
in this case, it installed an older version than the one I had installed.
Anarchos has joined #haiku
<AGMS>
You may be able to have both by installing your special versions of things in Home rather than System. Assuming the versions are actually compatible with each other.
<bbjimmy_64>
looks like a version of dll hell. krita requires one version of poppler and libreoffice requires another.
Major_Biscuit has joined #haiku
<AGMS>
If both are on HaikuPorts, you may be able to manually rebuild them so they have consistent dependencies.
<AGMS>
But that's a bit of work.
<AlienSoldier>
tracker pref does not have an icon size slider like the deskbar pref have? How do we set the tracker windows icon size?

is 128 a hardcoded limitation. It is large enough for icon but for picture preview i could take 4 time that amount and perhaps 8 time that if i was having a small monitor.
<bbjimmy>
I placed libreoffice and the proper poppler in ~/config/packages and now both libreoffice and krita work
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Great! The Home ones override the System ones, for each particular user's home directory.
<bbjimmy>
Haiku should be able to resolve these issues.
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Well, if there's bad dependency version data input, you get garbage.

(AGMS) Well, that was weird. Consistently got a VirtualBox Guru Meditation Error (shades of Amiga), when trying to git clone Haiku's buildtools. Seems like disk caching was using up memory and then kaboom.
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Reduced memory from 4096MB to 3GB and it works. Perhaps something is going past the end of a virtual memory page table...
<jessicah>
maybe you have corrupt BFS too?
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Nope, fresh install, from latest nightly.
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Anyway, I can finally perhaps get down to compiling Haiku on 32 bits (R1B3 failed to compile due to errors with building EFI boot).

(AGMS) Still trying to compile Haiku on 32 bit, hacked up build/jam/images/AnybootImage to remove the if $(TARGET_BOOT_PLATORM) = efi code, so it just does BuildAnybootImage, not BuildAnybootImageEfi.
<B2IA>
(AGMSBuildHaiku) Yup, objcopy on 64 bit Haiku does support pei-i386 targets.
