<augiedoggie> heh
<augiedoggie> humdinger: i was thinking about adding another feature to my local copy but i'm not sure if you're interested in it
<humdinger> let's hear it
<augiedoggie> an option for fuzzy searching, right now quicklaunch is basically searching for '*word*' but i'd like to search for '*w*o*r*d*'
<augiedoggie> to allow partial matches
<augiedoggie> i could then start quicklaunch, type 'wp' and have webpositive in the results
<augiedoggie> for example
<humdinger> yeah, but would you not normally rather search for "web" or "pos"?
<humdinger> I normally remember parts of the name
<humdinger> not just letters
<humdinger> "something-something-Office"
<humdinger> or "Libre-something-something"
<augiedoggie> i get lazy when i type :P
<augiedoggie> wp is quicker :P
<humdinger> make it a favorite :)
<augiedoggie> it is
<humdinger> here too :)
<humdinger> on pole position, so it's just OPT+Space for Quicklaunch and Return to start wp
<humdinger> needed, because it's crashing so often it needs to get restarted :P
<augiedoggie> the webpositive shortcut maybe isn't the best example
<humdinger> I'd rather not add your specific option, if you don't mind.
<augiedoggie> that's fine
<humdinger> too fine-grained an option
<augiedoggie> part of the reason i want it is because i have another feature in my local copy that you weren't interested in :P
<humdinger> me again... :)
<augiedoggie> i need to get back to Beezer though, it really needs a new release

<Vidrep_64> Hi humdinger

<Vidrep_64> When you have time or motivation to look at BurnItNow, let me know. No rush
<Vidrep_64> I did most of my testing over the Christmas holidays, but didn't get around to creating issues on HaikuArchives until fairly recently
<nephele> does tracker do partial matches? it's not that far off of an UI if you just open the applications folder in tracker :)
<humdinger> I saw... not much time/motivation lately... :}
<humdinger> Vidrep_64: I'll have a look... sometime.
<humdinger> If there's nobody else that actually has a DVD drive
<Vidrep_64> The audio cloning works fine since PulkoMandy provided the fix. Most of the other stuff is polish
<augiedoggie> nephele: i use quicklaunch for more than just applications ;)
<humdinger> nephele: you can type ahead filter and use shift+space to enter more than one filter criterium.
<Vidrep_64> humdinger, when "sometime" happens, send me an email

Therion has joined #haiku
<Therion> Hi
<augiedoggie> woof
<Therion> Which hardware would you guys recommend for Haiku today?
<augiedoggie> my hardware currently doesn't boot the nightly builds of haiku :P
<augiedoggie> otherwise it's fine, i'm sure it'll be fixed soon
<Therion> Im interested in getting into Haiku, I've an older Acer laptop - which has an nvidia G98M and a AR8131 gigabit ethernet
<Therion> I might have other devices... it would be easier to know which hardware is really supported
<Niklas[m]> The hardware list we have currently is not complete. The easiest way to find out if something works is to try it.
<Therion> ya I figured that its incomplete, but Im a total n00b about Haiku
<Therion> if it works then its supported? Or would I require to load drivers?
<augiedoggie> the only third party drivers would be of sound(oss)
<augiedoggie> s/of/for/
<Niklas[m]> All drivers are built in,except for some really old wifi cards (10 years or older) which aren't allowed to be included because of licenses
<Therion> I see, so I dont have ethernet on that machine - so unsupported
<Therion> then I'd prefer to get a list or a place to check for
<Niklas[m]> Why do you think you won't have ethernet?
<Therion> because there is no
<Niklas[m]> But wifi may work then
<augiedoggie> ar81xx is listed as supported
<Therion> augiedoggie: no dice in ifconfig...
<Therion> "Driver used: unknown"
<Niklas[m]> Only some specific really old cards need extra drivers and very new cards (Wifi ac mostly) may not work at all
<Niklas[m]> If you open network preferences,is any Ethernet or Wifi interface shown? You don't need to use ifconfig on Haiku
<Therion> I only see services there
<Therion> no devices
<Therion> its an old Extensa 5635ZG
<Niklas[m]> Oh,then you may be out of luck
<Therion> but it is supposed to be supported?
<Therion> so which device would be nice? What are you guys using?
<Niklas[m]> I'm using multiple devices.
<Therion> well one would be enough for now :D
<Niklas[m]> Lenovo 3000 N200,Acer TravelMate and a custom desktop computer.
<Therion> I cant just try out 100 different boxes
<Therion> Niklas[m]: and your ethernet works on the 3000?
<Niklas[m]> For wifi,I think Intel is best supported.Ethernet works nearly everywhere,no idea why it doesn't work with your laptop
<Therion> hmm
<Therion> well Im more into ethernet... I dont like wifi a lot
<Niklas[m]> Yes,it works. And wifi too,but it disconnects every few minutes.Ethernet is perfectly stable.
<Therion> what chip does it have?
<Therion> intel ethernet?
<Niklas[m]> I don't know.
<Niklas[m]> Wifi is Intel, but Ethernet may be something else
<Therion> how about the GeForce?
<Niklas[m]> It's old enough to work with Haikus dedicated Nvidia driver.
<Therion> maybe I'll try some nightly build
masoudd has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<Niklas[m]> I'm using the Nightly on it,too. It's my testing machine
<Therion> ya maybe it will help... I'd like that acer, its 17" and I got it for 0 bucks
<Therion> ok bummer, hrev55896 and nothing
<Therion> ok I've circumvented the issue, I've an usb to eth adapter (ugreen) and it works
