<x512[m]> Can you provide RadeonGfx log, GLTeapot log and screenshot with ProcessController RadeonGfx threads listed?
<andreasdr> Yes.
<andreasdr> Moment
<x512[m]> No strace is needed for GLTeapot.
<andreasdr> RadeonGfx has 3 theads. (Without running a GL app), RadeonGfx, Domain Watcher and Domain Thread
<andreasdr> (RadeonGfx log)
<andreasdr> (GLTeapot Log)
<x512[m]> Do "client thread" appear when OpenGL application is running and do is show activity?

<andreasdr> But it works and looks stable.
<andreasdr> Resizing the GLTeapot crashes the GLTeapot app
<x512[m]> Yes, it seems working. Thats great.
<rennj> glteapot have the block cursor still?
<rennj> cause haiku version has the block cursor foo, which beos never had
<andreasdr> x512: 100 points. Once I get my money situation sorted Ill continue to support you.
<rennj> the cursor vanishes on beos glteapot
<andreasdr> Let me check my engine now
<x512[m]> rennj: Not with my implementation because it do not use BDirectWindow.
<andreasdr> x512: What are the next steps regarding RadeonGfx If I may ask?
<x512[m]> It may be some problems with GPU memory because VRAM size is different from my case (2048MB). It need some small fixes.
<andreasdr> Ok.
<andreasdr> I have 1GB with this card only.
<andreasdr> Maybe I try to get a 7790 also later this year.
<rennj> my craptop amd apu only set aside 512MB for vram...
<andreasdr> I see. Well we try to develop a contemporary game, AFAIK it uses currently 1.5GB of video memory.
<x512[m]> About RadeonGfx: it need adding support for more GPUs (all SI gpus and GFX 8 GPUs) and architecture refactor.
<rennj> 4096 window but only 512MB for vram...on amd a10 apu
<rennj> vmware can do 8GB of vram
<andreasdr> x512: nice.
<rennj> overcoming crappy bios/efi
<andreasdr> What is GFX 8 CPU?
<rennj> radeon_si yeah what x11 uses for me
<rennj> the accelerated part anyway
<x512[m]> andreasdr: For example Radeon RX 550.
<andreasdr> Nice.
<andreasdr> Those cards are the 100 points for me.
<andreasdr> Our games will work very well with them.
<x512[m]> > Graphics/Compute: GFX8
<andreasdr> Nice.
<x512[m]> That GFX numbering is used in Linux AMDGPU driver sources.
<andreasdr> Ok
<x512[m]> My package I sent also include Vulkan support.
<andreasdr> Nice.
<andreasdr> Now I cant install glfw_devel and glew_devel
<andreasdr> Damn.
<andreasdr> Because of radeon_gfx
<x512[m]> Actually it is Vulkan-only, OpenGL is running with Zink.
<andreasdr> Yes
<x512[m]> andreasdr: A bit wrong dependency declarations.
<andreasdr> Ok. Would be super nice to fix this. If not I can have a work around to test my engine
<andreasdr> What to do with this package info file?
<x512[m]> You can extrach HPKG file, replace .PackageInfo with attached one and pack again.
<andreasdr> Oh. How to extract and pack? Never did this?
<andreasdr> AFK 3 mins
<x512[m]> package can be extracted with package extract command and packed with package create command.

<rennj> but without the CRC checksums...well bios/hardware signals can corrupt data, let alone bit flips from cosmic rays
<jezek2> hmm still not thrilled about haiku using package manager, uninstalling stuff doesn't uninstall dependencies + maybe the installation of dependencies could be more hidden from the user and treated as a single atomic unit including an overall download progress
<rennj> i had 100drives corrupting data ...bad bios
<rennj> firmware on drives was bad
<rennj> and ZFS does away with fsck of crashed system

<Begasus> why does does BootManager won't install on a local drive (that has been formatted earlier) with a mention "Incompatible"?
<waddlesplash> probably because the drive is formatted with GPT
<Begasus> swiped all partitions, think before it used EFI, but shouldn't matter now?
<waddlesplash> EFI uses GPT partitioning
<waddlesplash> BIOS booting uses Intel/MBR partitioning
<waddlesplash> you can't install BootManager on a GPT drive
<waddlesplash> so, either use GPT partitioning with EFI, or re-partition to Intel/MBR
<mooes> I just struggled a bit when I was installing on the new ssd. eventually figured out these steps: 1) initialize disk with an intel partition table, 2) select the empty space, create new partition, and check 'active', 3) format as BFS, 4) then run installer and select the new partition as target
raymondmendoza has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<Begasus> didn't "intitialize" the partition, maybe it's my bad here
<mooes> I think this is under the menu 'Tools'
<Begasus> anyway, did backups on the drive earlier
<waddlesplash> "Incompatible format" really means "you are using GPT", again
<waddlesplash> you can't use BootManager with GPT partitioning
<Begasus> so got some time to dig into this :)
<Begasus> while you are around waddlesplash , any thoughts on the fluidlite PR?

<vexmane> waddlesplash: i found 1 discussion on discuss.haiku-os.org about atheroswifi + wpa2 but the binary or whatever that user was using is nowhere to be found that he used to get wifi working
<waddlesplash> the atheroswifi driver definitely works, lots of users use it
<waddlesplash> but there's some hardware it theoretically supports that it just doesn't seem to work for whatever reason
<vexmane> i know this laptop always had wifi issues
<waddlesplash> and, this isn't Windows or Linux, you won't find any magically better driver binaries on the internet
<vexmane> tho ive had the wifi working on linux distros and windows 7
<waddlesplash> or source code for that matter. if it's worthwhile, we merged it already, more or less
<vexmane> i guess ill just use ethernet i guess
<waddlesplash> and I'm the one primarily responsible for WiFi so I know what the status of things is here :)

<hknewbie> now if I could build haiku_extras with the extra decorators...

<hknewbie> jam -q haiku-extras.hpkg says jam cant find the target
<hknewbie> uh, wait, forget it, I had a typo
<waddlesplash> :)
<waddlesplash> hknewbie: you don't need to build it yourself
<hknewbie> and, well, even with the correct name, jam cant ifnd it
<waddlesplash> it's available in the package repos
<waddlesplash> pkgman in haiku_extras
<hknewbie> waddlesplash: the repos one lacks the win decors
<waddlesplash> they should probably be added
<hknewbie> and mac
<hknewbie> if it were an error on decors on startup, a script would fix it in the desktop
<hknewbie> or just another boot entry
<waddlesplash> hknewbie: works fine here
<waddlesplash> jam -q haiku_extras.hpkg
<hknewbie> uh
<waddlesplash> anyway you will have to add the decorators to the package
<hknewbie> I added it
<waddlesplash> ok
<hknewbie> I am at the generated.x86_64 subfolder
<hknewbie> if I try to build the anyboot img
<hknewbie> haiku_extras doesnt get detected
<hknewbie> I might try to run jam directly in the decor folder
<hknewbie> directly, and copy them to the /boot/home/... subfolders
<waddlesplash> order matters
<waddlesplash> jam -q @nightly-anyboot haiku_extras.hpkg
<waddlesplash> that should work
<waddlesplash> then you just install the freshly build package: pkgman in path/to/just/built/haiku_extras.hpkg
<hknewbie> yeah, I know that, butÑ
<hknewbie> but:
<hknewbie> don't know how to make @nightly-anyboot

<mattlacey> @waddlesplash - remember how I was missing the development packages the other day? turns out I lost a bunch of others too such as Vision and Epiphany - I *think* it was to do with runnign software updater
<waddlesplash> that doesn't make much sense...
<mattlacey> I only just remembered I can boot old states though - booted a state from end of December and everything is there
<waddlesplash> it's possible a full-sync removed them I guess
<waddlesplash> but why, I have no idea

<waddlesplash> pretty sure I've used it
<xoblite> B_ENTERED_VIEW and B_EXITED_VIEW seems to work fine
<xoblite> B_INSIDE_VIEW too I think
<waddlesplash> you only get outside messages if you enable it with some flag
<waddlesplash> mattlacey: grep -i vesa
<xoblite> hmm, but maybe I should ask what the definition of B_OUTSIDE_VIEW is perhaps i.e. when is it triggered?
<waddlesplash> mattlacey: and yo ucan select other modes in the EFI loader menu

<xoblite> waddlesplash : aha, window flag you mean?
<waddlesplash> yes
<xoblite> ok, I thought it was just another message after exit, but that explains it, thanks!
<mattlacey> that's what I used to choose 1920x1080 the other week, just to see if it would perform better. but since then I've not been able to get back to 4k, and it doesn't appear in the boot loader menu either... I've just updated the rEFInd config file to see if that supports it and to see if it'll affect what the Haiku loader detects
<mattlacey> I created a vesa file myself just now to see if that'd work but it didn't
<waddlesplash> strange

<xoblite> like today when I tried to get a supported WiFi USB adapter to work... ouch
<xoblite> (could be wpa_supplicant below etc of course, but that still doesn't explain why Network prefs+replicant are not updated or sometimes even in sync with each other)
