i would still buy amd over intel any day of the week
<rennj>
From Intel's sneak peek video on YouTube published on Jan 10th, the Core i9-13900KS looks to have reached 6 GHz on two of the eight performance (P) cores, with a clock speed of up to 5.6 GHz on the remaining six cores, which is very impressive.
<rennj>
The Intel Core i9-13900KS is available to buy now at most retailers, with an MSRP of $699.

pity since the recent beta release would have been an excellent platform on which to showcase Haiku I guess.

Just new here (with questions). I had some kbd/trackpad issues on a Dell laptop. I (think I successfully) build Haiku from source, but the generated image -- when dd'd to my USB stick -- doesn't appear when I boot my laptop.
<smontanaro[m]>
Any suggestions about why my stick doesn't turn up as a bootable device?
<PulkoMandy>
Which profile did you use when building? @nightly-anyboot should be identical to the release images (in terms of booting)
<PulkoMandy>
@nightly-raw will be just the filesystem, this is not compatible with all bios implementations and certainly not with uefi
<smontanaro[m]>
Ah, okay. I used nightly-raw. I'll redo...

<PulkoMandy> "smontanaro, I added a comment on..." <- Thanks. As it seems my Dell's wireless interface isn't supported, I will have to grapple with setting up VirtualBox or some other virtualization system before returning to the keyboard/trackpad issues.

BarmenduChakraborty[m]: layout api is probably easiest way to add menu
<BarmenduChakraborty[m]>
Layout api..... Okay I'll check it out.
<BarmenduChakraborty[m]>
I just did it using the normal menu header options but it just messed up the window a bit :(
<ClaudioM>
Been lurking here for a while, but I just wanted to say thanks to everyone involved with R1/beta4. What little I've been able to do with it so far has been such an improvement since I ;played with the nightlies a number of months ago. It evne works for me now in a bhyve VM! Can't wait until it finally reachers R1 final.
<ClaudioM>
And sorry for the typos lol.
<jessicah>
BarmenduChakraborty[m]: does desknotes use the layout api?
<BarmenduChakraborty[m]>
I don't know.
<BarmenduChakraborty[m]>
Idk anything about the layout api tbh. I'll need to look into it
<jessicah>
the API docs aren't too bad
<BarmenduChakraborty[m]>
Where do I find it? In the Haiku API docs?
