howdy. unable to get network working through ethernet rtl8168 on r1/beta4. constantly tries to configure and fails with "No link". tried dhcp and static to no avail.

rtl81xx driver seems to be loaded (net interface is /dev/net/rtl81xx/0). saw previous now-closed bugs on it that also match what i see in syslog: watchdog timeout, Timeout shift, etc.

It's the switch to gcc13. That may lead to some kernel or drivers code being miscompiled

nuxxer: thread stopped app server sounds like appserver crash not KDL. try fail safe video mode in bootloader options.

jhj: it sounds as though this problem only happens in KVM which is very odd

nuxxer: btw the problem jhj is talking about doesn't affect bare metal, only KVM. I booted on bare metal and ran that driver and it works fine.
