(AGMS) John2, the Baxter I see on BeShare seems to work. Just unzip the Baxter_x86.zip somewhere and double clicking on the Baxter program pops up the licensing terms, then after that the preferences. Looks alot like the Vision IRC client, also available for BeOS R5.

Good morning Begasus.
<Begasus>
Hi there OscarL!
<Begasus>
k, crash report added to the issue for LO
<Begasus>
coffee ... :)
<Begasus>
another round on libgpg-error
* OscarL
gives up on "kc", can't even find the arc4random patches on gerrit :-D
<Begasus>
kc?
<OscarL>
(not that I would do much with them, anyway)

Using '/boot/home/.kc/default.kcd' database.
<Begasus>
on that note, why is my Vision in French now??
<OscarL>
nice :-)
<Begasus>
just commented out the line for arc4random_buf
<Begasus>
and some other changed things, but you had that already if you got that far :)
<Begasus>
I think it's some libbsd thingy?
<OscarL>
Françoise Vision? Oh la la. C'est la vie. Quelle heure est-il? (/me can't remember much else from his highschool French classes).
<OscarL>
re: kc/libbsd, yeah... some functions names are different on Haiku, and are provided in some bsd/compat headers.
<Begasus>
Using '/boot/home/config/settings/kc/default.kcd' database. ;)
<Begasus>
c'est 11.15 matin :)
<OscarL>
mmm, so... the arc4random_buf() call is only there in case bcrypt_pbkdf() fails early. Interesting.
milek7 has joined #haiku
<OscarL>
Just as a precaution in case code using that bcrypt_pbkdf() blindly uses the resulting buffer assuming it got encrypted.
<Begasus>
I'll leave that to the master :)
<OscarL>
And... seems bcrypt_pbkdf() is only called in one place, and it does checks the result before using the buffer so... commenting out arc4random should be pretty safe in this case.
<OscarL>
Nice Begasus. Not sure I'll be able to do much with that info until I get better, so... if you want to do the honors... please do so! :-)
<Begasus>
go for it :)
<Begasus>
still tackling libgcrypt atm (error with gcc2)
<OscarL>
With that said... I should probably go to bed now. Darn cough is giving me a headache :-/
<OscarL>
Read you around, Begasus! Good luck!

PulkoMandy: as I can't answer on Gerrit: look at e.g. fuse_chmod. It doesn't read old stat() either. And write_stat ignores all the fields which are not enabled in flags. So in this case it looks only at st_size

B2IA thanks, didn't know that was available. Do I need to compile BeShare, or is there a binary available?
<John2>
not sure if there's aw ay to get haiku depot to work with beos r5

No, HaikuDepot is only for Haiku

lol.. beos's calendar only goes up to 2010?
<John2>
that's a fun find
<mmu_man>
well they never expected the last version to be the last version, so that's the kind of things you always think you can fix in a later version :D
<John2>
BeOS used Unicode as the default encoding in the GUI, though support for input methods such as bidirectional text input was never realized.

Hi, I'd like to get some feedback on https://review.haiku-os.org/c/haiku/+/6842 Do most people really prefer Switch Shotcurs to Set Modifiers? And do most people prefer having both even if it can lead to confusion?
<jacereda>
Or maybe there's a better mechanism to conduct polls?
<waddlesplash>
we want both I think
<waddlesplash>
one click button for the general case, the window for the power-user case.

hmm, spdlog seems broken, it lacks the libspdlog.so.1 symlink. Unfortunately I'm a newbie and I can't fix it. I added a symlink in /boot/home/config/non-packaged/lib for now, is that OK?
<jacereda>
Noticed it trying to use bear. sh-5.2# bear runtime_loader: Cannot open file libspdlog.so.1 (needed by /boot/system/bin/bear): No such file or directory
<Anarchos>
jacereda pkgman search lib:libspdlog
<jacereda>
Anarchos, it's installed already, it's just that it didn't create the .so.1 symlink pointing to the real library
<jacereda>
it should be part of the spdlog package
<Anarchos>
it should
<Anarchos>
i think you can put the link in /system/config/non-packaged/... too
<jacereda>
yes, that did the trick, but I guess that will lead to problems if the spdlog package gets updated. The right thing is obviously fixing the package, but I don't know yet how to do it
<waddlesplash>
open a ticket at haikuports
<waddlesplash>
and someone will look into it
<jacereda>
ok
<waddlesplash>
well, there's a "prepareInstalledDevelLib libspdlog" in there, so that looks ok
<waddlesplash>
that should take care of the symlinks
