waddlesplash: Looks like it was a missed dcache or pipeline flush after the final MMU twiddling in the bootloader
<oanderso[m]>
I guess the dprintf just provided enough buffer to cover it up
<oanderso[m]>
I can reliably get to the kernel now, or at least the kernel debugger

Hey I have successfully set up my haiku dev environment. I am looking to solve some easy tasks on media player, is there any things I need to learn before diving into the issue.
<Begasus>
Hi akashkumar, glad to see you made it into the dev env :)

ah, a modern one. :)
<phschafft>
mine seems to be a Deskpro 5133. but there is a second one but I'm not fully sure where it currently is. (we still have that water damage going on)
<phschafft>
found it, a 66M.
<phschafft>
so, take good care of it. they are very nice machines.

problem 1: nothing provides devel:libtiff>=5.8.0 needed by proj_devel-9.3.0-1
<Begasus>
strange this doesn't show up in the reports?
<phschafft>
coolcoder613: I think part of it is that I feel like there is no good way yet to do anon-ssh. also that would limit you to what the ssh client supports terminal wise.
<Begasus>
whoops : /sources/proj-9.3.0/test/cli/testntv2: line 93: diff: command not found
<Begasus>
better :) 100% tests passed, 0 tests failed out of 61

PulkoMandy, waddlesplash, when checking on that getrandom patch for libgcrypt I saw a simular one done in openssl (1.1) that's not present in openssl3, not needed in openssl3?
<Begasus>
well, that was for "OPENSSL_RAND_SEED_GETRANDOM"
<waddlesplash>
it's not needed, yes

seems a shell is somehow central to an operating system...
<jmairboeck>
I'm currently in the process of "unbundling" the texlive_core package, i.e. splitting the external binaries that ship with it into their own recipes and removing them from texlive_core, like we did from the beginning with t1utils. There are many special case tools where not everyone will need everything. See https://github.com/jmairboeck/haikuports/tree/texlive_core
<jmairboeck>
Gentoo doesn't have a separate package for it, they ship it as part of app-text/texlive-core (like we do currently)
<PulkoMandy>
Either keep it in app-text, or if you plan to have several dozen recipes, maybe a dedicated directory for tex/latex?
<jmairboeck>
gentoo had some of them before and removed them now, I think mostly in dev-tex, some of the new ones (which still exist in Gentoo) are in app-text
<jmairboeck>
so I think "dev-tex" would fit best?
capheind has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
SLema has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<Begasus>
jmairboeck, not checked, is that a binary (application) or a library?
<Begasus>
or a binary but not like an application ...
<jmairboeck>
that is a command line tool, "cmd:gregorio" currently part of texlive_core
<Begasus>
dev-tex sounds good to me then
<jmairboeck>
the runtime files are part of the "texlive_music" data package, that will not change
<Begasus>
you're the master there :)
<Begasus>
just did a split for the doxygen package, base and a doxygen_gui recipe now, gave the change to check out a build for Qt6 also :)
<Begasus>
nightly image here on 64bit 3GiB, on 32bit 4GiB :)
<Skipp_OSX>
heyo
<Skipp_OSX>
it's for the default nightly image that we generate, the one you make yourself of course can be as large as you want.
<Begasus>
some restriction it seems Skipp_OSX (and yes understood for the default image) :)
<Begasus>
can't make them larger here for both arch's
<Begasus>
iirc something with qemu handling
<Skipp_OSX>
I complained that the bar went from green to red recently anyway when packages got updated... however, that's not why image size increased, for 3d apps crashing.

<Skipp_OSX>
meaning, we were at near capacity. A whole OS in 600MB is pretty good, I think we could probably go to 700MB and be fine it would still fit on a CD but we have to host the nightly images so I didn't want to increase our server storage requirements that much.
<Skipp_OSX>
... since every new nightly image will be that much larger
<waddlesplash>
worth noting that at some point in the hopefully near future we will switch to variable fonts for Noto CJK
<Begasus>
makes sense
<waddlesplash>
this will save ~80MB
<Skipp_OSX>
nice nice, I saw the font thread some of those fonts they were using looked pretty nice

<waddlesplash>
after neochat was uninstalled?
<Begasus>
no it's still there, have to kill the deamon after boot before I can do anything
<Begasus>
just haven't re-installed "my" version for neochat :)
