I set the deskbar to auto-hide, but it doesn't pop up, even if I move the cursor over it. How can I change the settings without being able to access the deskbar?

mibi88[m] you can switch workspace
<AlienSoldier>
alt-f1 alt-f2 etc...
<mibi88[m]>
I know, but it changes nothing
<AlienSoldier>
ho you mean the deskbar itself hide? Then you could kill it and hope it come back ok
<AlienSoldier>
never used auto hide myself.
<AlienSoldier>
there is perhaps a bug in it.
<mibi88[m]>
I set it to auto-hide, it shows a little square as expected, but when I go over it doesn't reappear.
<AlienSoldier>
will try it from my side

mibi88[m] do you have a screensaver start/don'tstart set in a corner? perhaps they interfere.
<mibi88[m]>
Yep now it reuses the previous settings as expected after killing it
<AlienSoldier>
ok, fine then
<mibi88[m]>
AlienSoldier: No I don't have that
<AlienSoldier>
if it does that again, you might want to fill a ticket aboutt hat
<mibi88[m]>
I retried and it works as expected…

Hi! Seems like the reimplementation of media_timed_event that came with the hrev58367 makes the system much stable than it was before. I'm impressed!
<Anarchos>
JackDaniel the whole system ? or just a media thing ?

I worked a lot with media stuff but I was surprised to found a much stable system overall. The performance after reimplementation of the event queued objects instead of calling malloc everytime remains almost the same and it's a good choice. And the MIT license for the new code is a good achievement. Nice to find new code heroes :)
<JackDaniel>
with old implementation (I used hrev58333) I had 2 or 3 crashes per day. With the new code I didnt found any crash until now
<JackDaniel>
and it seems like memory consumption decreases. Nice!

<Habbie>
crashes of what part?
Yoke has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<JackDaniel>
random crashes when playing video files (with vlc and videos in telegram)
<JackDaniel>
crashes when I encode videos using tools like OpenShot
<Habbie>
sorry. what crashes? some program? the whole haiku?
<JackDaniel>
the whole system, not only the app
<Habbie>
oh wow, ok

that's why I use most of the time ffmpeg instead of OpenShot. I have an 8gb ram and I use large video files (20-30gb/videofile)
<JackDaniel>
anyway, I dont want to bother you with my stuff, I just want to congratulate all of you for the great work you made everyday. God bless you all!

still a bit borderline for 1080 video (especially from older film with a lot of grainy pellicule) but viewable (sure it would be butter smooth if i was 64bit instead of 32)

interesting, that's a much bigger improvement than I was expecting then
<AlienSoldier>
anything timimg related will impact other ting timming related
<AlienSoldier>
time is shared, even between 2 virtual machien :)
<AlienSoldier>
*machine
<AlienSoldier>
moving windows seem a bit snappier also, but not the redrawing of what was under them
<AlienSoldier>
it fell like better "fps"
<AlienSoldier>
*feel
<waddlesplash>
I don't know what would've caused that
<AlienSoldier>
accept that it is magic :P
<AlienSoldier>
will try latter with my laptop, as it is older the difference should show more.
<waddlesplash>
it could be the changes to the I/O contexts
<waddlesplash>
that was earlier in the week
<AlienSoldier>
possible, i updated from 4-5 rev
<AlienSoldier>
sometime change happen not from either one change or the other but the interaction between the changes. Chaotic system happen in OS also.
<AlienSoldier>
i don't seem to have mediaplayer crash anymore (at least for now).
<AlienSoldier>
i removed the always ask to resume option i used to be able to "reset" video that where playing black once started from the start unless a reset was made to them.
<AlienSoldier>
problem is still there but it seem the "reset" happen with launching the video
<AlienSoldier>
The problem happen when the video end, then i can't play it back, screen stay black.
<AlienSoldier>
need to close the video, restart it, it then resume 2 sec from the end, so i "rewind" it to the start.
