<jannau> gryfbane_[m]: is asahilinux-keyring still installed? I guess `pacman-key -l` doesn't list that key. modification time of /etc/pacman.d/gnupg/pubring.gpg is probably not helpful after --refresh-keys. `pacman-key --populate asahilinux` might fix the issue if the asahilinux-keyring is still installed. that doesn't help with finding the cause though

<gryfbane_[m]> pacman-key -l shows me this key, but [untrusted]
<lkvrsfld[m]> <gryfbane_[m]> "For now, I need to put SigLevel..." <- You can set siglevel for the [asahi] mirrorlist only, should be at least a little bit more secure
<gryfbane_[m]> I mean the keyring is still installed,
<gryfbane_[m]> lkvrsfld[m]: ok !
<lkvrsfld[m]> Had the same issue on the asahi linux image, but it worked flawlessly on the arch linux arm image

<marcan> hmm, wonder if I botched something about the keyring import
<marcan> let's see
<marcan> nope, works for me :/
<marcan> specifically, `rm -rf /etc/pacman/gnupg && pacman-key --init && pacman-key --populate archlinuxarm asahilinux` does a full reset of everything and seems to work fine
<marcan> ok, if anyone else sees spontaneously breaking signatures, and you're willing to help debug, please contact me before doing anything
<marcan> my best guess so far is the CDN sometimes borks the package list signature file, and then everything else is just people confusing themselves after trying to fix it by mucking with pacman-key
<marcan> but that's just a hypothesis
<marcan> and if it's a CDN issue, it's location-dependent most likely so I really do need people's help to figure it out
<marcan> (and probably report it to bunny)
<gryfbane_[m]> duly noted :)

<bluetail[m]> marcan: i was unable to fetch anything till I started `pacman -Syo` or so
<bluetail[m]> mirrors would turn out 404
<marcan> that's normal
<bluetail[m]> but not all
<bluetail[m]> ok
<marcan> that's how arch linux works, they don't keep old versions archived
<marcan> you always need to update databases before an install
<marcan> since only the latest versions are available
<marcan> it's very much a bleeding edge distro and intended as such

<Foxboron> People usually misunderstand that. They pacman -Sy (apt update) and continue expecting stuff to work. But that is the main reason people break their Arch installs :p

<Foxboron> That archive is honestly pretty great
<Foxboron> What many don't realize is that Arch only hosts a fraction of the archived packages. Rest of them are uploaded to the internet archive. If you request a package from the archive that doesn't exist, it transparently just redirects you to the internet archive to fetch it
<Foxboron> A+ thing

<nikwest[m]> is there a dedicated repository where modified packages can be submitted? E.g. I have built mariadb without jemalloc.
<jannau> nikwest[m]: there is https://github.com/AsahiLinux/PKGBUILDs but non-essential packages should not be added there but should be merged in https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUILDs
the_lanetly_052__ has joined #asahi
<jannau> just disabling jemalloc will probably not be accepted, see how marcan built rust with a larger jemalloc page size in https://github.com/AsahiLinux/alarm-PKGBUILDs/commit/c2459a0ae6fc04b7fe98bb04f10795248eca949b
<nikwest[m]> yep, that's what I think, too
* mps is happy he managed to 'block' adding jemalloc to alpine :)

<nikwest[m]> not quite sure if the fix for rust is working in general. My assumption was that you first have to have a jemalloc version compiled with larger page size set
<psykose> that pkgbuild does that
<psykose> pretty sure the jemalloc is vendored into the rust source
<jannau> the rust change only works for packages with an embedded jemalloc copy
<nikwest[m]> ok, that makes sense

<jannau> nikwest[m]: if mariadb uses external jemalloc it should be fixed when https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUILDs/pull/1914 is merged
amarioguy has joined #asahi
<nikwest[m]> nice, but isn't the consequence that all downstream bins will need to be recompiled and the page size set accordingly? I'm not sure, if I fully understand the implications. So, runtime page size <= max compile time page size. This will be fixed with the pull request.
<jannau> I would hope that jemalloc's idea of the page size is strictly internal and does not bleed to its users
<j`ey> nikwest[m]: not if theyre linked dynamically
<nikwest[m]> yeah, maybe. I never looked at jemalloc ;-)
<jannau> LG_PAGE is only used in source files and internal headers in jemalloc
<nikwest[m]> 👍️ Thanks, then it should just work ...

<bluetail[m]> generally speaking, since wine on ARM64 is a thing, all that is missing for playing Steam Games is the GPU Acceleration, is that right? Hold on, I'll boot now into Arch Linux and try to play a CPU intensive game
<Dcow[m]1> with stuff like FEX, yeah
<Dcow[m]1> i don't think that there a lot of arm64 windows games
<bluetail[m]> Dcow[m]1: Noita.
<bluetail[m]> little graphics
<bluetail[m]> CPU intensive
<bluetail[m]> I'm going to try and report
<bluetail[m]> If not somebody else did!
<bluetail[m]> I want to use Wine
<bluetail[m]> since that works well under Linux
<bluetail[m]> I really doubt Noita makes use of the GPU properly
<bluetail[m]> should be enough to 'software render' the video output
<Dcow[m]1> if so, there is software gl now
<bluetail[m]> cool
<bluetail[m]> slightly offtopic
<Dcow[m]1> it's also might have 16K pagesize problem
<bluetail[m]> can I solder a wifi relais onto a button on a USB switch?
<bluetail[m]> I thought of using my command prompt to press the button
<bluetail[m]> then I could use my commandprompt to temporarily shutdown my monitor and let my monitor auto switch to the remaining source
<bluetail[m]> thereby passing usb devices and video device in one go
<bluetail[m]> I know there are KVM switches
<bluetail[m]> but I doubt they can handle something weird like 240Hz
<bluetail[m]> 144hz do work though... I tried
<bluetail[m]> but my last KVM switch for 300 bucks made too much coilwhine noise
<bluetail[m]> so I wouldnt keep it
<Sobek[m]> <Dcow[m]1> "with stuff like FEX, yeah..." <- any reason to always mention FEX and not box64 ?
<Dcow[m]1> not really
<Dcow[m]1> easier to write for me
<Dcow[m]1> 😅
<bluetail[m]> does either of them have a nice GUI ?
<bluetail[m]> I know I could google that
<bluetail[m]> eek
<Dcow[m]1> does it need GUI?
