<gryfbane[m]> Hey, I tried to update with pacman my Asahi (desktop install), but I get an 'untrusted key' for asahi (with some adresses : marcan@marcan.st, hector@marcan.com, etc...). Can I trust the key ? I updated several times asahi before without any problem...
<marcan> I don't see any keyring updates, any idea what caused that? did you reinit your keyring?
<marcan> it should be the right key but it should be trusted by default (the firstboot script does that)
<gryfbane[m]> marcan: yes that's what I thought...
alcazar has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]

<marcan> huh
<marcan> I've seen that "no data" error mentioned by some people before
<marcan> any chance you can investigate to see where that comes from?

<gryfbane[m]> <marcan> "any chance you can investigate..." <- yes no problem ! But I am kind of a newbie, if someone else wants to help, feel free !
<marcan> I would suggest `strace -f -s 1024 -o log.txt <pacman command>`
<marcan> for whatever command gives that error
<marcan> that might leak your local keyring signing key though, if you just upload it wholesale, but that's not a big deal as long as you wipe it and re-init the keyring after. or you can try to cut that part out.

<bluetail[m]> Bootloop after upgrading macOS to 12.31
<bluetail[m]> had to use 1tr to toot macOS
<marcan> 12.3 or 12.3.1?
<bluetail[m]> 1231
<marcan> toot?
<bluetail[m]> going to remove asahi for now
<marcan> I'm still not sure exactly what you upgraded or what happened, can you explain?
<bluetail[m]> Sorry.

<bluetail[m]> s/nPzfszT/nPzfzsT/
<j`ey> bluetail[m]: you forced a reboot in the middle of the update process?
<bluetail[m]> No
<bluetail[m]> i used apple menu reboot
<bluetail[m]> but like it took 4 reboots and them asahi was booted after I shut it down in the asahi boot loop
<marcan> that sounds like asahi was the default boot OS so after the upgrade it went back to that
<bluetail[m]> Kind of weird that it booted after many failures
<j`ey> I would try unplug any usb storage devices
<bluetail[m]> Sure… but since asahi boots by default without letting me choose I always go imo 1TR to Boot macOS
<bluetail[m]> it’s a nuisance
<bluetail[m]> that’s why I wanna remove it for now
<marcan> you know you can just change the default boot OS, right?
<marcan> it's in the macos settings or just hold option while choosing macos
alcazar has joined #asahi
<bluetail[m]> I thought they removed it after removing bootcamp

<marcan> lol, no, as I said these machines are designed for multiboot
<marcan> that's why we do the whole stub thing, to integrate with that properly
<marcan> it's all supported officially
<marcan> it's also in the menu in 1TR, there's like 3 different places you can do this :)
<bluetail[m]> Ye it worked
<bluetail[m]> by the way why is Mac M1 hdmi only 4K 60?
<marcan> where, in macos?
<bluetail[m]> Ye
<marcan> that's the spec
<jannau> because apple used a hdmi 2.0 diplayport to hdmi conversion chip
<bluetail[m]> Ic
<bluetail[m]> btw color seems ok on my new lg27gp990-b
<bluetail[m]> must be my old monitor which wasn’t compatible
<bluetail[m]> Is there hdr support already on Linux ? On macOS the hdr causes everything to appear washed out
<marcan> no

<marcan> now the better question is how you got it to work again
<marcan> since there's no way it'll boot again with a broken boot policy without re-running step2
<bluetail[m]> i used 1tr to boot macOS and then rebooted
<bluetail[m]> it fixed itself ? Weird…
<marcan> yeah... that *is* weird
<marcan> did you get an "activate your mac" screen?
<bluetail[m]> not at All
<marcan> ok, then whatever happened to you isn't exactly the same as me

<arnd> I got a much further today using proxyclient to boot into my t6002, console worked right away, but I don't know what I'm missing for the dwc3, it doesn't even seem to probe the device
<arnd> does m1n1 claim ownership of both dwc3 instances to set up the ttyACM ports and then not hand them over to the OS?
<sven> does it probe the tps6598x devices?
<j`ey> it should only keep that one port
<_jannau_> arnd: it claims only the port used for proxy and vUART
<arnd> ok, thanks. I don't see anything in tps6509x in the boot log. I'm fairly sure I enabled the driver, but I did not check if depends on another one
<_jannau_> missing tps6598x and dwc3 not in dual role mode are two things I can think of causing problems
<j`ey> and EXTCON
<_jannau_> I don't think tps6598x prints anything on sucessful probe
<sven> you shouldn't need extcon
alcazar has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<j`ey> depends on (EXTCON=y || EXTCON=USB_DWC3), Im not sure what EXTCON=USB_DWC3 means in Kconfig
amarioguy has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<sven> hm... weird, the code itself should work without extcon and use usb-role-switch instead
<_jannau_> arnd: config in https://github.com/AsahiLinux/PKGBUILDs/tree/main/linux-asahi works but builds everything non-essential as module
<arnd> _jannau_: ok, I'll try your .config then.

alcazar has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<arnd> I started with arm64 defconfig here, with the intention of adding everything necessary there to make it boot out of the box. At least I own that file ;-)
<sven> tps5698x, that apple i2c thing and dwc3 dual role should be enough iirc
<sven> the usb dual role thing is still a hack since we need to tear down and re-init dwc3 whenever a cable is reconnected fwiw :/
<_jannau_> does dart bypass on a 4k kernel work for usb-c in asahi/asahi?
<sven> i think so

<steev> j`ey: you can check with running xlsclients
<Cy8aer[m]> > Cy8aer: you have to pass the env variable to get it to run wayland backend. if you have pure wayland, then it just doesn't start (i think)
<Cy8aer[m]> Yep: `MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1`
<Cy8aer[m]> And it starts. But Thunderbird has some issues with wayland...
<Cy8aer[m]> (working with the same env variable)
<steev> i'm still a mutt user, so i can't help there :)
<Cy8aer[m]> like drop down menues (from time to time, submenues flicker - but not on my m1 😉 )
