<bluetail[m]> "perhaps first learn electric..." <- yes, i am very curious about electronics. I had digital electronics at the uni some years ago, only the base.
<asahi-test[m]>
Regarding donations, i think people who very gifted and are donating their time for the betterment of others like this project and so many others, should not have to be worried about paying bills. On the other giving anonymously, disconnects the donation itself ( donor / receiver ) from any obligation whatsoever. I mean these people have a lot a headaches for all of us, no?

different people do different things with different reasons

<mps>
apple released M4 already :D
<asahi-test[m]>
mps: yes, i agree totally. We share a common base with a lot of particular differences.
<mps>
only what I know is that the people who seriously work for free software and computing things are not egoistic and are smart ones (well, most of them)
<mps>
some newcomers could be 'strange'
<asahi-test[m]>
mps: absolutely, and _THAT_ is what makes me think the should have creative freedom not worrying about the bills.
<asahi-test[m]>

but working for other without any egoistic goal (material or mental or spiritual) make people better
<asahi-test[m]>
* absolutely, and THAT is what makes me think they should have creative freedom not worrying about the bills. Because they help changing the world to a better place for all of us.
<asahi-test[m]>
mps: totally agree
<mps>
earlier when I began to make some small fixes, bug reports or similar and I made bad/wrong/(sometimes stupid) things I'm told in minutes that it is bad with harsh words sometimes
asahi-test[m] is now known as m1n1m4[m]
<mps>
and by this I started to think more carefully what I do, and this was/is a best method to learn to be careful and work more serious
<mps>
so, thanks anyone who bashed me when I made wrong 'things' :)
<m1n1m4[m]>
mps: yes, very true, one has to take seriousness and responsibility even more at this level.
<mps>
so, don't tell me that I'm nice, smart, pretty .... (I know that I'm :D) but tell me what I do wrong

and the power of community is the union on solving matters and cooperation from all. I mean Linus T changed the world twice realizing early this is the way to go for all of us. On a more deep level, if we care about the environment which is our biological connection and life support basis, we start making our decisions on keeping ourselves alive and standing away from the selfish careless mentality that some business models that are prevalent.
<m1n1m4[m]>
So therefore we opt in on ethical business / communal models.

yes, Linus did a lot for us but he is not one who start this
<mps>
actually Linus used free tools to build first concept of linux
<m1n1m4[m]>
mps: OK, but there are others that feel comfortable just having loads of fun with their passionate work and just offering it to others, not their pocket and me me me...
<jn>
the thing about "standing on the shoulders of giants" is that it's giants (some bigger, some smaller) all the way down
<mps>
jn: yes, it the world always existed those who wanted to help other without egoistic goals
<mps>
in the world*
<m1n1m4[m]>
jn: absolutely and they all have their own place and they are all needed in different ways. So everyone matters. And here you see that.
<m1n1m4[m]>
mps: yes and i think that is more responsible _TODAY_ because we are bordering and challenging extinction very worryingly and we need a different approach. It is normal that the old model from industrial revolution is going obsolete and if we do not see that quickly, we wont have time as a species...
<mps>
I like to cite Meister Ekhart from his book about doing works from the 'clean heart'
<m1n1m4[m]>
yes, it make you feel lighter and an equal part of everything around
<m1n1m4[m]>
so the selfish mentality is even older, it has primitive roots on our survival mechanisms and hierachical organization. When we are doing our things with passion, we are all out of it, the relationship is flattened, everyone talks to everyone, so i thing this is the evolution itself. I honestly believe projects like this can change the way we all think and live.

since this discussion is moving a bit away from Asahi development financing, let's perhaps move it to #asahi-offtopic (not sure how to access that channel through matrix though)

OK thanks jn , just to wrap the idea and bringing it back to topic and thus closing the subject; As a channel or as a community or project, since we all benefit from the long hours spent for us all, we should give back to those who make all of this possible, so that it obviously can continue and ( not prosper but "blossom" since we are in spring and nature is fundamental ).
<jn>
for some, paying back works well, for some, paying forward (using what others made, and making something new) — pick whatever you like :)

I don't know if that showed up three times

just once, here in IRC
<m1n1m4[m]>
<jn> "for some, paying back works well..." <- yes but generosity would certainly _HELP_ bring more geniouses in and also look after their bills thus speeding up the whole thing.. So all _gain_ from it no?
