<psydroid[m]1> it's a total disaster compared to developing on Linux
<bluetail[m]> Well uhm... Perhaps not so for a competitive environment for gaming. Because framerates/jitter/latency aren't yet there, according to a long discussion on testufo.com
<bluetail[m]> If we talk about disasters... Let's talk about the KDE Display manager just for a second. It's so buggy...
<bluetail[m]> I heard Fedora is aiming to be better, but I couldnt yet try it.

<bluetail[m]> It certainly got better, but it isnt ideal
<psydroid[m]1> I stopped using KDE recently and switched to Mate
<psydroid[m]1> so I don't have it running on any of my systems anymore, although I still use some KDE/At applications

<kode54> I'm mostly running macOS on this thing
<kode54> but I run Arch and Wayfire on my Ryzen machine with 6 year old GPU
<kode54> when I'm not running Windows 11 on it
<bluetail[m]> congrats for not using win 11
<bluetail[m]> GPU? GPU prices are currently at free fall
<kode54> and I have zero money
<kode54> I am literally committed to the last dollar almost every month until september
<bluetail[m]> what happened ? #_oftc_#asahi-offtopic:matrix.org
<kode54> I'll take it there

<kprasadvnsi[m]> anybody tried gitlab runner on M1 with Asahi linux?
<mps> kprasadvnsi[m]: don't see any reason why it should be a problem to run
<mps> asahi is just a kernel (i.e. specific part), rest is normal linux distro
<nZh10[m]> so we can still use aur and yay as we did in normal arch linux right?
<mps> nZh10[m]: afaik, aur is x86 only
Ry_Darcy has joined #asahi
<nZh10[m]> okay, got it
<mps> but you can try to build packages which are not Arch alarm
<mps> or look in arch alarm
<mps> 'Asahi Linux' is based on Arch Alarm
<mps> but one could install debian/fedora/nixos or alpine
jluthra has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<nZh10[m]> you mean use docker or bare metal?
jluthra has joined #asahi
<mps> bare metal
<mps> and docker/lxc/qemu ofc
<nZh10[m]> that seems too high for me :-(
<mps> nZh10[m]: I prepared bootable usb image which can be used as rescue usb stick, with it one could do whatever want
<mps> so probably with debotstrap installing debian (etc) could be done easily, though I didn't tried
<nZh10[m]> sounds cool
<mps> nZh10[m]: look here https://arvanta.net/alpine/install-alpine-m1/ you can get idea from it
