<dcatt> that didn't work either
<AlienSoldier> i have a problem with no sound at boot for abour 12-16 sec. I wonder if that is related to the discovery of SD reader, i don't have that on my tower PC and that one don't have it like my laptop.
<dcatt> do you have a bootup sound configured?
<AlienSoldier> no
<AlienSoldier> sound just kick in eventually
<dcatt> well I killed media and media addon server and got audio back

<AlienSoldier> what is up with atari 8bit emu only supportin jostick on numpad?
<AlienSoldier> i mean for keyboard.
<AlienSoldier> atari800 emu is mentioned as supported for BeOS (it is SDL compatible) but in haiku depot only the libretro core is there, no stand alone version.
<mrentropyvcs> If I had even a slight idea of how the package system worked, I'd try and make a recipe for Atari800 and Atari++ (and Hatari).
<mrentropyvcs> Actually, I think atari800 is in haikuports, but it's for 32-bit only.
<AlienSoldier> Atarii++ is there, but i don't have anumpad on htis laptop
<AlienSoldier> also the fullscreen suport is weird
<AlienSoldier> mrentropyvcsyou mean 64 bit on;y?
<AlienSoldier> *only
<mrentropyvcs> It's been a while since I looked, but I thought it was 32-bit only. Or it was on HaikuDepot for 32-bit, not 64-bit. Something along those lines.
<mrentropyvcs> I generally just compile those three myself.
<mrentropyvcs> Also, Atari++ you can change the keypadstick options by using -LeftUp <string>, -Up <string>, etc. atari++ --help has the whole list.
<AlienSoldier> i know there is a libretocore but that is only what i found prlimenary
<AlienSoldier> i hate libretro as it is
<mrentropyvcs> Yeah, that's why I started downloading and building them.
<Coldfirex> Anyone every tried to run a dedicated game server on Haiku to see how it held up (like rtcw:et, etc)?
<AlienSoldier> mrentropyvcs i see -LeftUp <string> (for atari++) but i don't see how i can ad basic cursor. I don't know the string correspondance for keys.
<mrentropyvcs> Hmm.
<mrentropyvcs> Maybe you can set the joystick to a real joystick and use joystickutilizer (in HaikuDepot) to use cursor keys?
<mrentropyvcs> Oh. No. Wrong direction.
<AlienSoldier> my problem is having only a laptop keyboard. If joystick utilizer could relay any keys to any other keys, that would solve it.
<AlienSoldier> this one have source availiable but don't seem to be multiplatform in mind https://virtualdub.org/altirra.html
ClaudioM has quit [Quit: leaving]
<mrentropyvcs> AlienSoldier: I think you can use -Left "Cursor Left" -Right "Cursort Right" etc.
<mrentropyvcs> It seemed to work when I printed stick(0) after doing that.
<mrentropyvcs> Altirra is really, really, good but it's Windows-centric. But, I think Atari800 and ++ may use parts of it for different things. Atari800 uses AltirraOS and Altira BASIC, I think, if nothing else is available.
<AlienSoldier> mrentropyvcs yes the string is accepted by the GUI also. need capital leter "Cursor UP"
<AlienSoldier> mrentropyvcs can't find the "RightUp" and the likes.
<AlienSoldier> letters seem toi only be letters
<mrentropyvcs> There's only four cursor keys, so I'm not too surprised. If you're lucky, holding down right cursort and up cursor will work correctly.
<AlienSoldier> yes, i don't think it have 16 way pad like the intellivision.
<AlienSoldier> but it could be abd explain the use of numpad
<mrentropyvcs> Nope, it was an 8-way joystick.
<AlienSoldier> for exemple there was a time pilot port.
<AlienSoldier> not that long ago
<mrentropyvcs> Holding down the right and up cursor keys does produce an upper right direction.

<AlienSoldier> so i guess i am all set to try Last Squadron :)
<mrentropyvcs> I don't know what the fire button is, though.
<AlienSoldier> i did set it as Z and X
<AlienSoldier> yep, work awsome. F11 is pause :)
<mrentropyvcs> Excellent.
<AlienSoldier> double buffer option seem to not engage, but that is not a giggy
<AlienSoldier> *biggy
<mrentropyvcs> Giggity.
<AlienSoldier> ful menu scrollbar in full screen act weird
<mrentropyvcs> It's been a while since I tried full screen. Mostly I'm trying to cram as many emulators on the screen as possible. Also, I need a new controller because my Atari one doesn't work right with Haiku.
<AlienSoldier> the doc mention of a .conf file but i see none
<mrentropyvcs> I think you have to save one before there is one.
<mrentropyvcs> It doesn't create one if there isn't one, so you have to manually save it first.
<jt15s[m]> "emperor of Haiku" 🤣
<AlienSoldier> yes, saving worked
<B2IA> OK, he can be emperor of Haiku, so long as he's wearing pants. It's those invisible clothes that cause problems.
<AlienSoldier> mrentropyvcs main problem is that my cursor disapears when in full screen
<AlienSoldier> so i guess i need to fullscreen from terminal
<AlienSoldier> Ok, now cursor is back, weird. I guess changing workspace and back made it appear
<AlienSoldier> also, if i can't scroll the scollbar in full screen, i can clip it's upper part and reach the menu item i wanted. All problem solved. What is cool is because tha atari is able to autoload the disk inserted, it can launch directly with the game running.
<AlienSoldier> *clip = click
<AlienSoldier> Last Squadron is quite a competent Hybris/Terra Cresta clone.
<AlienSoldier> now i need to find that space harrier clone
<AlienSoldier> port
<mrentropyvcs> I'm not sure if I ever played Last Squadron.
