Begasus... I just tried again to install TexStudio in nightly 64bit and it works! But where to get the LaTex files? Are these commercial available? http://0x0.st/-3Mm.png
<BrunoSpr>
Is it usable without LaTex at all? What can I do with it? My son is studiying physics and math he might know how to test TexStudio if complete
<Begasus>
It's not in haikuports yet, so you'll have to build texlive yourselves
<Begasus>
this will build the "base" package, that's not so big
<BrunoSpr>
Begasus I am afraid I cannot follow how to do it... I go to texlive github page clone it and then I have to download the patch and the recipe and put it inside the TexStudio folder and then g++?
<BrunoSpr>
Sorry never tried to apply a patch nor a recipe in a cloned app
<BrunoSpr>
Thats to difficult for me atm
<Begasus>
OK, need to see if I can make it available somewhere for you to test
<BrunoSpr>
Can you do it for me and send me the .hpkg file per Telegram? pls
<BrunoSpr>
Bruno Spr
<Begasus>
Never used Telegram :)
<BrunoSpr>
ups BeShare is crashing
<BrunoSpr>

<BrunoSpr>
how to share files without Telegram and BeShare?
<Begasus>
maybe over wetransfer, I need your email address for that however
<Begasus>
sec
<Begasus>
uploading it to wetransfer, if things are OK I'll have a link for you in a bit

jmairboeck, maybe it's time to split the PR for texlive into multiple PR's, starting with the base package?
<Begasus>
that's not so big and maybe could be merged and installable then
<Begasus>
for texmf package(s) there could be a seperate PR?
<jmairboeck>
we could maybe merge it up to the point before the split of texlive_texmf into subpackages
<Begasus>
those are still disabled right?
<Begasus>
we don't want to build them with buildmaster ;)
<Begasus>
base package here is about 27MiB, so that's not so big
<jmairboeck>
yes, right now the committed version is still disabled, if I see it correctly
<jmairboeck>
can I make changes in the haikuports tree while haikuporter is running?
<Begasus>
download is also not that big (+52MiB)
<Begasus>
other then the texmf reference ... yes
andreasdr has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<jmairboeck>
Begasus: should we maybe rename the "base" package to texlive_binaries before merging it? I think that makes more sense
<Begasus>
I'm ok with that jmairboeck
<Begasus>
texlive_base
<jmairboeck>
in Debian it is called "texlive-binaries" AFAIK
<Begasus>
that works also :)

I think it's texlive-core there
<jmairboeck>
ok, we can use that name also
<jmairboeck>
and I think what we have now in texlive_texmf is in the category dev-texlive in Gentoo. Maybe we should move our recipe there as well?

<Begasus>
yep, nice catch jmairboeck :)
<Begasus>
fiddling with lazarus again :)
<jmairboeck>
or should we keep it in app-text? Gentoo has app-text/texlive as a metapackage
<jmairboeck>
their packaging structure is a bit different there
<jmairboeck>
I think I'll keep it in app-text for now. Also, it would be the only recipe in dev-texlive
<Begasus>
ok too :)

Begasus... how did you convert the LaTex file? We can open large LaTex files without problem but cannot view them because maybe: http://0x0.st/-3uq.png
<waddlesplash>
this command will change you to the "nightly" channel

after that you can run "pkgman full-sync" followed by a reboot

<AlienSoldier>
waddlesplash i have a question about the update process. I now use an earlier state (55223) because of my packagefs can't mount KDL. The updater say "haiku-r1~beta3_hrev55410-1 to r1~beta3_hrev55436" so it does not upgrade from my current state. That mean than any corruption in my latest state will not be fixed by any future update?
<waddlesplash>
those are two different versions...
<AlienSoldier>
it other word i would expect it to say "haiku-r1~beta3_hrev55223-1 to r1~beta3_hrev55436""
<waddlesplash>
no, you are still booted into an older state
<AlienSoldier>
yes i am
<waddlesplash>
the updater refers to what packages are in the latest state, not the state you are booted into
<waddlesplash>
so it will update everything
<waddlesplash>
so indeed if it's just one or two corrupt packages, then the updater should fix that
<AlienSoldier>
ok, but if the wording would mention the booting state, it would remove the ambiguity.

in BePDF alt-* does not work, i guess it work when you have a numpad. Shift-alt-8 should be able to do the same.
<AlienSoldier>
that is the fit to screen keyboard shortcut
<AlienSoldier>
both fit to page and fit to page width should follow the full screen action, right now they don't.
<Begasus>
jmairboeck, missing some things in the texlive_core package it seems
<jmairboeck>
what do you mean, Begasus?
<Begasus>
I have a package on 32bit that is abould 100MiB that includes $dataDir/texlive that is missing atm
<Begasus>
not sure what change was needed there to build it now :)
<jmairboeck>
that is part of the other texlive package (texlive_texmf before)
<jmairboeck>
texlive_core just contains the binaries, more or less

ok, now I have a bit of a problem: it seems that I can't use my "old" texlive package for building the new data package. I think it didn't activate the contents of that because the name clashes with the build package of the new one. Then the installer tried to create a directory in /boot/system/ which failed obviously.

waddlesplash how do the transaction directory work in /boot/system/packages/administrative. Some are empty.
<AlienSoldier>
i wonder if corruption s in those
<waddlesplash>
no, those are used while pkgman is downloading things, they can be left full if transactions fail or are stopped
<waddlesplash>
you can delete them if you do not have any running pkgman
<AlienSoldier>
ok
<AlienSoldier>
waddlesplash i made a test after freeing space on my partition to copy newer state to another partition, deleting them and importing them back to see if it was a fragmentation issue as the two time this happened i was close to being full on main partition. I was hoping they would end up in less partitioning area but i still have the problem.
<AlienSoldier>
one thing i have is a broken link in queued-scripts with a file named install_plugins.sh
<AlienSoldier>
oher than that all seem fine

waddlesplash the update i did today created two state directory, same date but 22 min difference in time. The second dir only have a activated-packages file in it.
<AlienSoldier>
i don't understand that
<waddlesplash>
not sure what's up with that either
<AlienSoldier>
perhaps it stry to boot the one with no package in it
<AlienSoldier>
*try
<AlienSoldier>
and KDL
<AlienSoldier>
waddlesplash i guess it is safe to delete any state that does not have a "haiku_loader" file?
<waddlesplash>
no, you might delete the state you are using now?
<AlienSoldier>
that is a bit like crossing the bridge in the last crusade :)
<AlienSoldier>
i don't have prior state to fall back on as i deleted them to reduce the fragmentation risk.
<AlienSoldier>
i guess i could rename it just to disable it
<AlienSoldier>
waddlesplash what deleting (disabling) it would acheive?
<waddlesplash>
nothing it jsut frees up space
<waddlesplash>
you can delete whichever ones you don't use
<AlienSoldier>
waddlesplash you mean the coruption i have in t future state could have root in the one i am in currently?
<waddlesplash>
no, probably not
<waddlesplash>
have you run a checkfs recently?
<AlienSoldier>
yes
<AlienSoldier>
only say it could free a bit of blocks
<AlienSoldier>
nothing out of ordinary
<AlienSoldier>
will try to delete the double one with a single "activated-packages" file and see what it does. I also now deleted alltransaction dir
<AlienSoldier>
*ones
<waddlesplash>
if you have corrupted packages then this won't help, the packages in /system/packages directly are probably the corrupted ones
<AlienSoldier>
waddlesplash but one was corrupted i would expect a crash later, not at the packagefs mounting state. unless that packagefs itself is in a package.
<AlienSoldier>
waddlesplash those are like zip file right? so if one is corrupted i should not able to see the content?
<AlienSoldier>
seem they all open
<AlienSoldier>
will try a reboot anyway in case something changed

<Dusan_Krehel>
waddlesplash: in Haiku are all values extreme bad
<Dusan_Krehel>
Haiku must have the second in table 2021-09-18 under 1s. Another is bad

example
<Dusan_Krehel>
Linux for 1M items: 1.472717 | 0.455750 | 0.874607 | 0.038526 | 1000000
