hi all. Just install Haiku into esxi for a test. VMRC console doesn't work with the mouse, so needed to do everything via keyboard
<firsttime>
I have it installed and running. I've changed the password as per the docs, and am unable to ssh in, even after a reboot. I have ssh -vv to ensure it's talking properly, and it is, so something is not quite right
<firsttime>
also, I'm unable to install vnc server via keyboard through the haiku depot, so I'm stuck with a haiku install that I can see the desktop, and open an app or two, but unable to use the mouse/remote desktop.
<firsttime>
does anyone have any suggestions? I'll keep hunting through the docs, but so far I'm at the limit of this adventure. hopefully someone has some comments, thanks in advance
<firsttime>
I'm connected via VMRC, which Coldfirex too mentioned. I just cannot control it with a mouse to get vnc server running via the Depot, the keyboard won't get into the app window, and the menus are stuck in the Log In section on the right, won't move to the left menu

if HaikuDepot installed apps via the cli, that would work

you can use the pkgman command from the cli, but i think he mentions how to work around the main issue with the mouse

iisi, I think webkit build is 45min to 2 hours here, don't remember exactly. Installing an SSD made more difference than a fast CPU. I'm on an old Thinkpad X220

firtstime: Correct, I had to use VMRC and I could not be within an RDP session of the machine running VMRC or else I had that problem. If I ran VMRC locally then I had control over the VM correctly

Renga sais "We regret to inform you that your settings file has been corupted".. huh... why was that open rw even while the client was running? :g
<PulkoMandy>
the settings are currently saved as xml using Renga's old xml parser code. Probably this should be thrown away and replaced with BMessage based storage
<PulkoMandy>
then we can clean up all the old xml parser since it's not used anymore for anything else
<Coldfirex>
Interesting. Web+ can play youtube videos now, however I rented a movie through it and it says "your browser cant play this video". Wonder if its DRM w/o them saying it

Hard to tell what vague error messages mean
<nephele[m]>
especially with "Click here to update your browser" vague errors ;)

ya, of course if you click the link it gives it says our browser is supported lol
<Anarchos>
on recent hrev, Vision refuses to launch because of 'typeinfo of BField not found'
<nephele[m]>
This is probably because of recent changes with hiding of symbols that were exported accidentally
<Anarchos>
nephele[m] sure, i don't know who is maintainer of vision.
<nephele[m]>
No idea :), maybe make a ticket on it's repo?
