hm I'm wondering, is it possible to "share" a microSD card between macOS and linux? My plan was to create 3 volumes, one encrypted APFS, one extfat (for the exchange of data between boots) and one linux partition, (Luks formatted). I already tried to start with macOS, created an encrypted case-sensitive APFS volume and left space over, when booting into linux the entire microSD card cannot be used/accessed at all, getting something like: mmc0: error
<MichaelLong>
-110 reading general info of SD ext reg. Any thoughts?

MichaelLong: I don’t see why it wouldn’t be possible, but isn’t there a limit to the number of partitions on a microsd card?

kidplayer666, you're probably right. I'm experimenting a bit right now, looks like I have an issue with my current microSD-SD-adapter
<opticron>
depends on the partition scheme, MBR gives you 4 primaries (if that's important) and I think a technically non-limited number of extended partitions. GPT is quite a bit more capable
<ar>
opticron: IIRC some systems (dos, win9x) you could only have 4 extended partitions "in" every primary
<ar>
don't remember how it worked
<opticron>
yeah, I remembered something about that, but that's a limitation of that OS and not the partition system itself (and hopefully not modern OSs)
<opticron>
also why I threw in the "technically" :D

I would like to thank everyone who was involved in speaker support. I've just pumped an HD music source into the speakers (ten years old Peter Gabriel concert, directly flac-ed from the mixer sum, which you could buy after the concert - 24bit/96kHz). It's unbelievable what you can get out of the small chassis.

So Grateful Dead fans could freely record music and had to pay only for acid. Look how the world changed.

PaulFertser: of course - but not with the quality - not needed with much acid of course 😉 And the two flac CDs were cheaper than an album.

hi all i want to try asahi linux i've been here before but was wondering. what is supoprted on fedora since i think its the only real supported one ? all i need is regualr usage like zoom spotify and daily task word office etc.. ?
<jb1277976>
my mbp is my workhorse when my other laptops freebsd don't work or i get embarrased cause hdmi dosen't work i turn to my mac all the time to resolve everything. i just want a distro that just works and compliments my mac
<Tramtrist>
chromium still opens up in Xwayland by default
<Tramtrist>
probably something we should change?
<Tramtrist>
or is that cause im not using KDE
<opticron>
jb1277976, Fedora is the official supported distro
<jb1277976>
does everything work speakers zoom ?
<opticron>
others are available and are of varying completeness
<opticron>
everything specified on the feature support wiki pages should be functional on the Asahi Fedora Remix distro
<kidplayer666>
jb1277976: unfortunately, most of that software is not available. If you can do it with a web browser it works well, if it is not, you’re out of luck for now, unless you’re willing to do some workarounds
<jb1277976>
on my freebsd laptop they don't have zoom so i use it in a webbrowser
<jb1277976>
im used to that
<jb1277976>
as long as speakers work and mic and just day to day activiites i'm fine
<leio>
internal microphones do not work yet
<jb1277976>
I have a dongle i use on my chromebook that has freebsd its a usba to c and splits to a micrphone and headphones
<jb1277976>
leio sorry if i sound like a broken record but internal mic dosen't work on asahi in general or on fedora ?
