Hi all, pkgman Failed to download package glu: Range Error.

beaglejoe: I highly suspect this is a bug in package kit trying to reuse files from state/ and thinking they were partially downloaded
<nephele[m]>
anyhow, i think there is a ticket somewherre (I should comment on that heh...)

nephele: thx, I deleted some old states and installed successfully.
<nephele[m]>
that's like the oposite way to do it nicely... :/
<nephele[m]>
as a workaround for next time, tell it to explicitly install the file it is trying to download again
<nephele[m]>
just pkgman i pathtofileinstate
<PulkoMandy>
deleting states seems the right way to me. If you have a corrupt file there, it's better to not install it :)
<nephele[m]>
It's not corrupt
<nephele[m]>
the package kit is just wrong
<nephele[m]>
(in thinking that the file is partially downloaded anyhow, which is the cause for the range error... its already fully downloaded)
<PulkoMandy>
the idea is the package kit asks the server "give me the bytes starting at this offset" and the server should reply "there are no more bytes after this offset", and this should work fine
<PulkoMandy>
I don't think the package kit knows what the full size should be when it starts a download
<nephele[m]>
I disagree, if a file is in the state/ directory the package kit should leave it alone, and never attempt to download more
<PulkoMandy>
yes, right, this should only be used for files in transaction directories
<PulkoMandy>
which might be incomplete because of a previous failed download

is it possible to use a haiku machine as a network gateway ?
<cassisian>
anarchos: in general, i think so. (Although, in general, network elements should be able to work without GUI and currently afaik Haiku needs a GUI)
