<Begasus_32> The following changes will be made:
<Begasus_32> in system:
<Begasus_32> install package libpurple_x86_devel-2.14.6-1 from repository HaikuPorts
<Begasus_32> Continue? [yes/no] (yes) :
<Begasus_32> Re-using download '/boot/system/packages/administrative/state_2021-08-31_17:43:52/libpurple_x86_devel-2.14.6-1-x86_gcc2.hpkg' from previous transaction (partial)
<Begasus_32> *** Failed to download package libpurple_x86_devel: Range Error
<Begasus> sorry for the spam, but I see this often these days :(
<Begasus> trying to check chat_o_matic with haiku also fails with: Range Error .... (for libpurple)
<jessicah> you can just remove the partially downloaded file
<Begasus> or just Alt-click in Terminal to install it
<jessicah> pkgman/package kit needs a bit of work to add retries and stuff
<Begasus> there is a way to do it, it's just annoying
<jessicah> then you possibly install a corrupted package
<Begasus> probably one I did here localy before it was pushed to haikuports
<Begasus> and pkgman sees that in activated packages but can't use it
<Begasus> well, not activated*
<Begasus> had one when trying to update the system, fribidi, build new version here and installed it got in the way, uninstall wasn't an option because it wanted to de-install half of the system
<Begasus> so I had to rebuild an older version before I could update
<jessicah> heh
<jessicah> what the heck even is fribidi
<jessicah> oh, bidirectional text
<Begasus> libfribidi :)
<jessicah> what in haiku depends on that?
Haikunaut has joined #haiku
<Haikunaut> plop
<Begasus> ok, that works too :)
Haikunaut has quit []
<jessicah> ah, libass and ffmpeg
<Begasus> and all the list of dependencies there
<jessicah> I'm kind of surprised haiku wants to basically uninstall the system for ffmpeg
<jessicah> I guess it's a hard dependency rather than an optional one these days
<Begasus> I just rebuild to the new PR for chat_o_matic, installed and checked it, if I merge the PR an run full-sync I'm betting I'll see the same error while the local one is installed and the remote one can't be installed
<Begasus> or even if I uninstall it and try to update (that local one is still "chached?")
<jessicah> probably ;-)
<jessicah> I think pkgman can find the package in the transaction and maybe state folders
<jessicah> nowadays
<Begasus> A bit too clever if you ask me ;)
<jessicah> yeah, never used to do that... I guess it was to work around partial downloads
<jessicah> since it doesn't retry
<jessicah> seems like a hack, instead of fixing package kit to actually retry automatically
<jessicah> package kit needs a lot of work :-/ could have automatic retries, parallel downloads and things, but the current architecture is pretty horrible
<Begasus> system/packages/administrative/state_2021-08-31_17:43:52, that was probably the one I installed localy
<Begasus> so it was never downloaded

<Begasus> k, lets see when this is finished
<Begasus> scummvm almost done (didn't push that one before, didn't launch when I tried a new build there a while back)
<jessicah> chat-o-matic sounds interesting
<jessicah> is it already in repo?
<jessicah> I'm sure I searched for it a couple weeks back, couldn't find it
<Begasus> just merged it, ready already for x86_64 now
<Begasus> buildmaster for x86_gcc2 still finishing up on scummvm
<jessicah> so I can install now?

<x512[m]> mbrumbelow: SystemManager mapped memory size is just a sum of all area sizes of process. So if you map 1TB file, process mapped memory will be more than 1TB. On x86_64 kernel team mapped memory size is about 512 GB because all RAM is mapped to kernel to simplify access to physical memory. Not sure what calculates ProcessController.
