thought so :) anyway changes should go over to your repo I think :)
<Begasus>
whoops, no dutch translation there I see also KapiX ;)
<KapiX>
well, no one did one
<KapiX>
anyway, this one's funny, turns out I've added new translations to the branch, but I didn't update the makefile so they're not bundled :)
<Begasus>
maybe I should investigate some time into it

Do I need to be concerned that it removes my mails?
<BrunoSpr>
hi all.. andreasdr no Internet problems here on 64bit haiku 1 Beta 3 nightly
<nephele[m]>
jt15s: regarding the ticket for broken updates... it's three independant bugs there at play, first beeing that the server returns connection refused for an unknown reason. The second is that the package kit threats connection refused as a permanent error and does not retry (and also discards the stuff it has already downloaded in that case) and the third is that the package kit takes *anything* from /state/ and threats it as incomplete or
<nephele[m]>
tries to download more of the file, it should never touch those imo, either use them or not use them
<jt15s[m]>
nephele: Ah, understood. Oddly enough I tried again and everything downloaded fine, although for some reason updating caused a KDL so now I have to boot from an earlier system snapshot
<jt15s[m]>
Never have I been more grateful for system snapshots
<nephele[m]>
a KDL would be a different error
<nephele[m]>
I think what Scratch has is that set of three erorrs above, where you have different errors
<nephele[m]>
don't have my trac credentials with me to comment that unfortunately!
<andreasdr>
Thanks BrunoSpr
<jt15s[m]>
nephele: Yeah, not too sure what caused that. And yeah, all these different errors are confusing - it would be nice if pkgman returned different error messages, maybe with some sort of error code so we can differentiate between issues
<jt15s[m]>
* caused that KDL. And
<nephele[m]>
jessicah: "shine" on buttons is not a theme but a decorator thing, we can probably make it render a bit different if the control scheme is dark, but personally it hasen't bothered me much, Probably a task for after the initial theme is finished to polish it :)
<nekobot>
[haiku/haiku] 6558fa2ef47e - Update translations from Pootle
<nephele[m]>
jt15s: package kit already does return nice errors imo, if you really want to dig into what it is doing with http you would need to rebuild the network kit with debug support. but from the log Scratch provided i can already see what is going wrong mostly
<jt15s[m]>
Ah alright
<nephele[m]>
it's just severall tasks to do to improve the reliability of (partial) updates
<jt15s[m]>
Ok, sounds good
<nephele[m]>
the range error was an improvement for example, before it used to not give that error :)
<jt15s[m]>
Ok
jmairboeck has joined #haiku
<nephele[m]>
please report your kdl anyhow, and feel free to open a second ticket for your issue, with the output of pkgman like i had asked of Scratch (SoftwareUpdater does no logs, hard to figure out what it does)
<andreasdr>
Cool. Trojita seems to work.

<andreasdr>
Nice. Also searching works fine.
<andreasdr>
Cool.
<andreasdr>
Now lets see later if it deleted my mails :D
<jt15s[m]>
nephele: I booted into a state created before updating and everything works fine for now, but I'll try updating and see if it causes a KDL again - if so I'll report it. If I need to report a KDL is a screenshot sufficient or do you need other logs too?
<nephele[m]>
A screenshot is usually sufficient, if your screen is too small you probably need two to get the entire trace. It's best if you can say exactly what you did to provoke the KDL.
<jt15s[m]>
Alright, thanks!
<jt15s[m]>
I'm thinking we should probably write up guides/make a few videos (if there aren't any already) on how to report issues like KDLs, report unsupported WiFi cards etc
<nephele[m]>
point phone at screen make photo and upload?
<nephele[m]>
we already have documentation on how to report bugs and such

Begasus: I just checked the tex packages that dblatex is checking for in its setup.py script and to which collection they belong. I'm not sure if all of them are really needed, but it seems that none of the "smaller" installation schemes contain all of them.
<Begasus>
jmairboeck, then the list of depending packages for dblatex will be quite large?
<jmairboeck>
the needed collections are basic, latex, latexextra, latexrecommended, mathscience, and fontsrecommended
<countryboy>
python is a good name but dragon is better ... but freedom ...
<jmairboeck>
but latexextra is the problematic one, it is not included in the smaller installation schemes
<jmairboeck>
so I am not sure if we can realistically leave anything out from the texlive package
<countryboy>
jmairboeck: with libreoffice writer there is formula editor is good ...
<countryboy>
easier then latex ...
<jmairboeck>
countryboy: I know that, but that is not the point. Latex is needed by other packages, so if we want them on Haiku, we need Latex too
<countryboy>
ok, np
<jmairboeck>
and you can't really compare wysiwig text processing apps with latex, they are a completely different paradigm
<barctor>
yeah i've just installed it thanks, taking a look now

r1b3 32bit anyway
<rennj>
PE was another editor people used for ide on beos i want to say

i did come across Pe but was hoping for a more IDE-like experience, otherwise I was going to cop out and just use vim lol

i use emacs and pe for quick edits but Qt Creator for longer coding sessions
<PulkoMandy>
well Paladin is not very feature complete yet, it's a lot of work to do a complete IDE :)
<PulkoMandy>
so, yes, you may have more luck with Qt based solutions for now, Qt Creator or maybe Monkey Studio?
<PulkoMandy>
(personally I indeed use vim, with a few plugins to get code completion and the like)
<countryboy>
PulkoMandy: why not use Lazarus ide from freepascal changing some and name ?
<PulkoMandy>
that's also Qt based, and it's designed to write Pascal code, not C++
<countryboy>
ah, ok
<PulkoMandy>
I have not written any pascal in the last 15 years so I would be clueless if I need to do anything with it :)
<ffog>
lazarus is quite nice, tho i haven't done anything very complex with it
<ffog>
there is a way to use C inside lazarus as well
<countryboy>
problem the qt is a thing of the heart ... same name ...
<ffog>
tho maybe not what you're really after
<countryboy>
I propose to call the libraries troll tech => tt
<B2IA>
(AGMS) I often use BeIDE in BeOS in a virtual machine to develop code (so it works in BeOS and Haiku), then compile and package on Haiku.
<countryboy>
bewake screen saver is in beide ... ready to be builded ...
<countryboy>
it in lavori.zip ;-)
<B2IA>
(AGMS) There's also a BeIDE project file to Maklefile converter somewhere.
<countryboy>
fine

... it is in lavori.zip ;-)
