x512: I just tested with GCC 11.2 and it builds successfully. I suspect the issue you ran into with SPIRV-Tools was the spirv-cfg refusing to build.

it would be cool if that trippy blue screensaver from BeOS could be implemented in Haiku
<bparker_>
also how did it get ported if haiku people didn't have the source code

<waddlesplash>
pretty sure it wasn't a BeOS original but rather a creation of a third party developer in the first place
<waddlesplash>
bparker_: again it's called "nebula" and it's in the default install
<waddlesplash>
said developer donated the source code (actually I think axeld was the one who wrote it originally and he's one of the core Haiku developers)
<x512[m]>
chaoticbob: Thanks. I probably missed cmake configuration arguments. I have operational libvulkan.so ICD add-on loader and functional LLVMPipe, RADV (it executes, but render nothing because of stub drmIoctl implementation) add-ons. Maybe I will manage to load SwiftShader as Vulkan ICD add-on.

<chaoticbob[m]>
x512: Good stuff on RADV. Pretty excited to try it when it's ready.
<chaoticbob[m]>
x512: I almost have a working Vulkan-Loader. I think it's just failing on the ICD directory scan. Hopefully once that's fixed it can pick up whatever ICDs are available.
<julicenri>
It was overall positive, although some package installation slowness was observed.

<jt15s[m]>
Yeah, that was posted on the forums too
<jt15s[m]>
Nonetheless, I'm really happy that they didn't experience any major issues and liked the OS
<jt15s[m]>
The developers will probably need to look into the slowness of the package installation
<Niklas[m]>
They said it was the download,not the installation.Maybe the servers were overloaded or their connection to the servers isn't that good?
<jt15s[m]>
Yeah probably
<jt15s[m]>
More package mirrors would be nice
<jt15s[m]>
Plus perhaps we should take inspiration from Linux and allow the user to select the preferred mirror either in Preferences or in Installer
<Niklas[m]>
We had that topic in the forums multiple times.Seems to be not possible currently as packages are not signed and could be manipulated by the mirrors.
<Niklas[m]>
But there's a Cloudflare mirror which is fed over IPFS directly from Haiku,so it should be safe to use and it's fast everywhere.
<jt15s[m]>
Yeah, that's true
<jt15s[m]>
There is actually a blog post about IPFS that when published could let more people know about it
<jt15s[m]>
Unfortunately it's been stuck in review for a while
<Niklas[m]>
There were some problems with the IPFS mirror at the beginning and I don't know if people still work on it,but for me it has been perfectly stable for some months and I still receive the latest updates using it.
<jt15s[m]>
I might actually try the IPFS mirrors, it's been a bit difficult on my end downloading packages
<julicenri>
Cloudflare IPFS seems to be missing the HaikuPorts beta 3 x86_gcc2 repo.

jt15s, niklas: iirc they said it was /not/ the downloads, but then package installation is atomic and pretty much instant, so not sure what else would go wrong without a ticket...

weird that 4k wouldn't appear now when it did before. kallisti5 may have something to investigate

chaoticbob: "Do you have a working Vulkan-Loader already?": Yes. It loads and run LLVMPipe, RADV and WSI Layer (I use WSI implementation in separate add-on). But it currently has hardcoded add-on path. find_directory probably should be used. Add-on path should be probably "add-ons/vulkan".

x512: Gotcha. I assume since this isn't Linux, users are fine to modify /system/add-ons? Linux has the search path for $HOME/.local/share/vulkan/icd.d as well
<chaoticbob[m]>
x512: Are your changes up on github anywhere? I'd like to compare it to what i have so far.
<x512[m]>
I plan to use find_directory for Haiku, so search paths will be like /boot/home/config/add-ons/vulkan, /boot/home/config/non-packaged/add-ons/vulkan, /boot/system/add-ons/vulkan, /boot/system/non-packaged/add-ons/vulkan.
<x512[m]>
I have not yet published code. I probably can do it today.
<chaoticbob[m]>
Cool. It would be nice to have a loader and the libvulkan.so as well instead of having to copy/link the SwiftShader so directly
