hooway: Technically you can. Following frameworks are confirmed to work: Django, Laravel, Spring. But you can't run system without GUI without patching system code.

The project I'm building tries to install libs to /system/lib/ in the package build, what is the "correct" place it should try to install to during build?

where is nginx /www/ located?
<LegendaryAmerican>
I dunno.. if bastl ever figures out how to make trinity berg work similar to pocket operators.. though along a 4 pin berg right and left.. because, i think you cant send wav data over trinity berg. but control signals. yeah. its cooler to me than modplug.
<LegendaryAmerican>
theres a few other guys using the berg connectors.
<LegendaryAmerican>
*actually in a way similar to midi or cv modplug*, if there was a standard, I know that haiku aftermarket has arduino dev kit
<LegendaryAmerican>
with a standard then mev and sequiter could control trinity itself direct interface. pie in the sky sure. I havent checked mev with the arturia keystep yet.
<LegendaryAmerican>
ok. arturia shows up. mev doesnt record yet but it shows output
<LegendaryAmerican>
dont be suprised to hear "the capability existed in beos, has not been implemented in haiku yet" and a lot of this pertains to third-party. a bit is just getting a rock solid R1 out the door.

<LegendaryAmerican>
for mev.. for instance.. in beos they had a few guys working with a pre beta version. but changing over to haiku meant people had to stop to see how everything was going to be implemented. things fell by the wayside. beos used to support a fair number of video cameras.. haiku supports very little at this time.
<humdinger>
Diver: yesterday Begasus and Vidrep and me planned to do a bumped version for StreamRadio.
<humdinger>
Diver: I also wanted to added new translations first.
<LegendaryAmerican>
when youre talking about hundreds of thousands of lines of code.. reimplementing is a monumental feat.. for an org that hasnt ever broke the 1 Million Dollar mark.
<Diver>
ouch, sorry about that
<humdinger>
well, we'll do another release in a few days then.
<Diver>
still it can be done
<Diver>
sure :)

<humdinger>
sure. we'll go straight to 1.0 then. would've made more sense with those larger changes instead of just a few more translations... :)
<LegendaryAmerican>
haiku.. because.. it (is functionally) the beos.. is the only operating system ever made which has been completly written from scratch TWICE. R1 we hope is huge in the computer and internet community
countryboy has left #haiku [#haiku]

although there has been programming changes.. some.. required changes.

can you guys add support for different php versions in haikudepot?

Does anyone here know other interesting niche OSes?I'm currently looking for a suitable OS for my third computer (normal x86_64 desktop computer).Haiku runs on my main computer already,so I want to try out something else there.I'll look into all suggestions except Windows and Linux.
<Niklas[m]>
That looks really interesting.I'll try that one.

ToAruOS (Like the anime)

Ah right,I even bookmarked this one,but totally forgot about it :D Looks like there's not even USB support,however?That would be quite disappointing

Tried Mezzano now but it takes ages to boot and not even mouse and keyboard are working (I guess it's because the docs explicitely say it needs to be PS/2 but the device has no PS/2 ports)...

another one.. if its cyclic.. might come again.

I was always enamoured by menuet OS
<LegendaryAmerican>
it now has usb midi support. its so lightweight.. it could go on a lot of these little chippy dippies
<Niklas[m]>
MenuetOS is of course interesting,but it has no Wifi and no web browser,correct?

<Vidrep_64>
Hi humdinger
<Vidrep_64>
I guess we'll be giving the translation bump for StreamRadio 0.0.5-4
<LegendaryAmerican>
it probably does, but I think the raspberry pi crowd is like, dont do menuet os on rpi.
<Vidrep_64>
Maybe wait for more significant changes before going to 1.0
<LegendaryAmerican>
they have a c lib. but everything is broken down to assembly code.. no middlemen. and no C++
<Niklas[m]>
That screenshot doesn't even look that bad.I should probably give it a try
<LegendaryAmerican>
in lower level languages you have to spend a lot more time having to know how to hunt down how to implement something. I am not a coder, but I have done some coding.. and I can tell you that is not fun
<Niklas[m]>
Well,I'm not planning to code with it.I just need something that I can use.
<LegendaryAmerican>
unless it specifies in class compliance how to implement something, in higher level languages.. there are several ways to implement something.
<LegendaryAmerican>
and some class compliancies are more open ended.. some are closer ended.. some have hard and fast rules.. must be done this way. with lower level there is just fewer options.
<LegendaryAmerican>
so even yes.. while you can build the assembly in any tool.. itll always compile down to the constraint.
<LegendaryAmerican>
menuet os is cool for people who like spending a lot of time in assembly. most driver programming requires some understanding of it.

<Niklas[m]>
Hm,then it's not the right choice for me
<Niklas[m]>
Maybe I should just install FreeBSD?Or give Arch GNU/Hurd another try?
<LegendaryAmerican>
Its worth the eval. it fits on a *floppy* size.
<LegendaryAmerican>
haiku has borrowed some things from bsd.
<LegendaryAmerican>
so it kinda pays to have people over there who knows whats being written.
<Begasus>
humdinger, finished the dutch translation for StreamRadio earlier today :)
<Niklas[m]>
I know,for example the network drivers.Still,FreeBSD feels a lot like Linux and I wanted something totally different.
<LegendaryAmerican>
it is that for sure.
<LegendaryAmerican>
also.. raspbian and building in python.. I used not to think anything of python even if there was a lot to it.. until rasbperry pi came out.
<LegendaryAmerican>
as I think there is a haiku port to rpi. of which there is also a python implementation for haiku too. so.. things from source should just roll right over.

https://www.futur3soundz.com/xfm2 esp seeing they are talking about getting an rpi touchscreen model to be able to control this with full editing transport and so on. of course to get haiku os on it.. and yes.. that would mean a flagship synthesizer *thus* running haiku aboard.
<LegendaryAmerican>
(some fella has one connected with also reaper daw running)
<LegendaryAmerican>
so, its halfway to becomming a full flagship synth, with built in arranging.

Begasus: I saw. Very good :)
<humdinger>
Vidrep_64: If StreamRadio had any active devs, I'd say, yes, wait with 1.0. But as it stands, there won't be significant changes in the near future, I fear.
<Begasus>
So why not move it to 1.0 now humdinger ?
<humdinger>
I plan to do just that.
