I'll look into virtio, if I understand correctly there is infrastructure in Haiku for this already so it might be nice starting point for driver development
<x512[m]>
PulkoMandy: ATI driver is already working in QEMU.
<PulkoMandy>
is it newer than that or did they forget to document it?

It need setting VGA fail safe mode during booting on x86. Probably some problem with QEMU and SeaBIOS.

anyone know how installing lua libs is supposed to work? it seems there is a lua package manager called luarocks ported, but installing with it does not make lua pick up anything (and i'm not getting further with env vars either :/)
<waddlesplash>
KapiX: indeed we already have virtio net and disk drivers
<waddlesplash>
and thus virtio bus managers

nephele, PulkoMandy - your last commits to HaikuWebKit fixed a couple of issues I was seeing on GitHub
<PulkoMandy>
I'm trying to replace the lock used by the http code (waiting for things to build...)
<PulkoMandy>
it may help with 17356 and other similar problems
<PulkoMandy>
trying to use a BLocker instead of a WebKit specific lock that does strange things
<Vidrep_64>
nephele, that's the issue I see

Hi.
<extrowerk_3>
Webengine needs a *lot/ of time to build.
<nephele>
obviously :)
<waddlesplash>
yeah I'm gonna fix that
<waddlesplash>
we're going to use a bin package instead
<extrowerk_3>
Interestingly enough nobody started a hype "WOOOOOOOOOW, Chromium! On Haiku!!!!!4441111" thread yet on the forum.
<waddlesplash>
because they aren't even aware probably :p
<extrowerk_3>
I was surprised first to see the merged commit, but i already told myself someody will do this, it just the matter of time, and korli know what he does, so why to be surpirised at all?

<humdinger>
ah yes. needs a dev orking on it first though :)

We'll always have something else for later
<Vidrep_64>
After the new release is pushed, we can review issues and probably close a few

Diver: hmm, any chance we could bridge Telegram to Matrix and get the Telegram channels accessible via IRC?
<BrunoSpr>
hello humdinger please have a look into PecoRename for Haiku 54 bit because it is crashy right now
<humdinger>
BrunoSpr: I know, I created a PR for that.
<humdinger>
got feedback from korli and will have a look tomorow

so we have all the chats in one place?

wait, you want to bridge it /here/?
<BrunoSpr>
thanks humdinger
<BrunoSpr>
do not bridge the telegram forum here... there are too much strange people right now there
<BrunoSpr>
like me for example
<nephele>
Honestly if this channel were bridged to telegram or any similar platform i'd just leave, i don't want to use those networks.. doesn't matter whether by proxy or no

<BrunoSpr>
haiku-telegram why not if possible but I would use telegram direct for all the pics and videos there
<nephele>
What's the point of that? just intstall telegram if you want to use it
<BrunoSpr>
nephele yes that what I was thinking too
<BrunoSpr>
no need to spend time for something already working very well
<BrunoSpr>
humdinger... any possibility to get PecoBeat to work?

Trying to compile fish shell in Haiku. Running into an error about locale_t not being declared. Anyone have any tips for what to look into there?
<waddlesplash>
I think we already have a fish recipe with patches
<waddlesplash>
however it was disabled due to crashing
<waddlesplash>
anyway, it appears we don't have locale_t
<nephele>
I remember running fish on haiku... it was my favorite shell before mksh :)

Is there a way to inspect which libraries export symbols? I'm trying to figure out what luasocks has to link against to fix this: "resolve symbol "lua_pcall" returned: -2147478780"

the nm command
<nephele>
thanks
<nephele>
Seems one reason luasocket did not work initially was because it did not link against libnetwork, i'd assume that linking against lua52 with -lua would have fixed it not finding lua_tonumer or lua_pcall... but it does not :/
<skirst>
nephele, did you try pkg-config --libs? i'm using luajit without issue
<nephele>
lua, not luajit
_Dario_ has quit [Quit: Vision[]: i've been blurred!]

<skirst>
it works with normal lua so "pkg-config --libs lua" for linker flags
<nephele>
It's doing something funky anyhow
<nephele>
I think it is linked correctly now, since runtime_loader does not seem to complain, but now lua complains about the line "local socket = require("socket.core")" in the luasocket library with "attempt to index a nil value" which makes no sense to me, unless the require function somehow is nil, but that makes no sense to me
<nephele>
I should go to sleep
