Ok, disabling user add-ons and smp did not help.
<BGA>
Disconnecting all USB devices but the USB HD I am booting from worked and made it boot.
<BGA>
The reconnecting the mouse/keyboard (through a KVM) results in exactly the same crash.
<waddlesplash>
fascinating
<waddlesplash>
any difference without a kvm?
<BGA>
In might have tried it once with the same issue. let me try again.

So, did not test with mouse only, but connecting the keyboard directly to the NUC results in the same crash.
<BGA>
waddlesplash: The keyboard in a Alienware on with support for setting the keyboard colors. Maybe it has some other USB-atttached device exposed that is confusing Haiku?
<BGA>
is an Alienware.
<BGA>
Other thna this, it is a pretty plain keyboard with only a volume knob.
<BGA>
Not even any other media keys.
<waddlesplash>
possibly, or more likely it just does something strange the USB hid driver does not expect
<waddlesplash>
and thus crashes
<BGA>
Oh... The keyboard itself is also a hub (it has one USB port).
<waddlesplash>
yeah that seems possibly related
<waddlesplash>
see if you can use a different keyboard to get KDL input
<BGA>
Diver: Yep, seems to be exactly the same bug.
<BGA>
waddlesplash: Will try with a different keyboard, but I think it is unlikelly the person on that bug is using exactly the same keyboard I am. :) So ut might be a more general bug.

Ok, different keyboard got it to boot.
<BGA>
But connecting my mouse is stalling usb_hid apparently.
<BGA>
(mouse and keyboard stop working.
<BGA>
There is something fishy here.

I think there's more than one line where that B_CLONEABLE_AREA needs to be added
<Vidrep_64>
...if I understood what waddlesplash was instructing me yesterday
<humdinger>
maybe he'll post a correction at that ticket
<waddlesplash>
B_CLONEABLE_AREA only needs to be applied to create_area I think
<waddlesplash>
not to the clone_area invocation. though maybe I'm wrong and it does

waddlesplash, humdinger - fifo.c#L363 beosshm_child(). I see this in the error log when cloning "cdda2wav: Child reader sem request failed. W Child exited with 9" Is there a connection?
<waddlesplash>
probably. check syslog again
<Vidrep_64>
KERN: team "cdda2wav" (3947) attempted to clone area "shmfifo" (36099)!
<Vidrep_64>
from the cdda2wav log: 0%cdda2wav: clone_area failed cdda2wav: Child reader sem request failed. W Child exited with 9

"fifo, shmifo..."
<Vidrep_64>
lol
<Vidrep_64>
humdinger, maybe add to clone_area as well, and I can apply the patch locally
