<PulkoMandy> x512[m]: Matrix count "users" as anyone who ever joined a room, so they say they have a lot of users and big channels, but it's a lot of dead/unused accounts. Giving incorrect impression when trying to compare with other messaging systems where people don't appear joined forever to channels
<x512[m]> So what? Matrix is bad because user can stay logged in?
<x512[m]> Some channels like GTK automatically remove inactive users.
<x512[m]> I would say that IRC is bad because user MUST stay logged in to not have conversation lost.

<Hanicef[m]> <Begasus[m]> "1+ for matrix on having the..." <- i find a balance to be optimal: keep messages, but not too far back (maybe a week or so) since it's exceptionally rare that you look that far back
<Hanicef[m]> i know that some matrix homeservers have message retention policies to save storage space
<Begasus> Hanicef[m], right, history for me is only relevant for the last day(s) (not running a server here)
<Hanicef[m]> yeah, same
<Hanicef[m]> also, sorry if i've been so inactive in haiku development, i've been busy with other stuff, so i've had to put it aside for the time being

<Yoke> can anyone get the IceWeasel port to work? it just doesn't seem to open for me, doesn't say it's crashed or anything, it just doesn't open.

<OscarL> Yoke: try installing the "libevent" package: "pkgman install libevent"
<OscarL> (assuming you're hitting the same issue that was already reported on https://github.com/haikuports/haikuports/issues/11420)
<Yoke> holy s*it that worked, thank you
<OscarL> np
<Yoke> might just be me only having 4gb of ram but it does NOT like discord XD
<AlienSoldier> is it good, can't test yet as i am in 32bit
<Yoke> i forgot how many ads YT has now, first thing i gotta fo is install an adblock :/
<Yoke> it works, if a little slow but that's more just my hardware than the browser's fault

<phschafft> hm, I'm sure... soemwhere.

<erysdren> well, contact@erysdren.me should do you fine
<erysdren> thats my public contact
<erysdren> phschafft: what did you wanna talk about?
<phschafft> erysdren: thank you.
<phschafft> erysdren: I was thinking about some simple VM for runing some portable bytecode on SIRTX. wanted your input on my general design.
<erysdren> ahh yeah, happy to chat about it sometime soon
<phschafft> :)
<phschafft> my general design is based on the Lua VM, just for reference.
<AlienSoldier> Yoke, i guess it have the right quality to be the base for a webbrowser :)
<coolcoder613> phschafft: <SamuraiCrow> wasm
<phschafft> hm?
<coolcoder613> But seriously, why not wasm? There's plenty of nice portable implementations, and lot's of languages compile to it.
<phschafft> I'm not against it. but I don't think it fits all my targets.
<coolcoder613> Which are?
<phschafft> as in it physically doesn't fit into the chips.
