Recommend a very serious but not difficult change to Media Preflet: putting the midi category as a main category just like audio settings, HD audio and video settings heading. Same level.
<LegendaryAmerican>
Because you'd want to make it Midi/DMX
<LegendaryAmerican>
Seeing that indeed they also make midi>dmx converterz
<Begasus>
heading down, cu peeps

This we get straight now because Haiku 2 would likely have audio plug-ins as a main heading under media preflet.

Midi is just that powerful.. I use a cheap arturia beatstep regular to control propresenter on Mac for public performance slides and graphics/videos.. graphics props and so on.. in a very public setting. ProP can use midi and dmx.. its not super powerful but with midi it's way more powerful than without. Albiet.. propresenter needs bome code or bome box to get the knobs to work.. pads work better than good.
<LegendaryAmerican>
You can use rotaries(Davis 1900 clones.. or larger) to cycle through video lists in propresenter.. if you're running bome. Or if they included them. In fact in presentation software on haiku.. aside from timeline.. they can add the same or better abilities.

But I would put midi/dmx as a main category and not a sub on media preflet. I suspect one of the subs would be patch bay eventually with profile saving and loading for pb.

Why does SMB Network show any samba shares?
<bbjimmy>
#not show any samba shares
<rennj>
probably have to go with smb1.x tech and not smb2.x tech
<rennj>
and of course smb1.x is probably security vulnerable
<rennj>
all those smb/cifs hacks...that have occurred in the past
<rennj>
im not up on haiku smb/cifs client/server support..just guessing
<nephele>
I think we only have some lib in haikuports
<rennj>
well if like beos, probably older smb/cifs is supported...problem is smb/cifs has moved on..so you need an old samba server not new
<rennj>
or tell the modern samba server to support the insecure smb1.x foo
<rennj>
nfs and sshfs > smb/cifs ...in my mind..just cause m$/ibm tech
<nephele>
I think the thing should support smb2 atleast, i don't recall what it was
<nephele>
I don't mind smb, it has gotten quite a few unix aditions, and it is widely deployed, so we probably should get good client support
