<PulkoMandy>
so I don't see why they wouldn't work... unless something is filtering them (either client side, but I don't see anything that could do that, or server side if you have some IRC modes set maybe)
<zard>
Strange... I'm certainly not on the latest version of Haiku, but it seems that feature was added a while ago
<Begasus>
mine are working fine here (adjusted colors when switching to darker theme though)
<zard>
My version of Vision even has settings for mIRC colors. May as well update Haiku, and see if the bug is still around
<PulkoMandy>
maybe you have all the colors set to black in Vision settings?
<zard>
No. All the colors of the rainbow there ;-)

K, now I just need someone to make a commit :)

<PriyanshuGupta[m]>

<PriyanshuGupta[m]>

one more question - why no stable support for ntfs here?

as Haiku is meant to be compatible with BeOS, BeFS was a priority, and then ext filesystems as they're a popular option in open source operating systems. I am not a dev/I do not contribute to filesystem parts of Haiku but my guess is that NTFS just hasn't been a priority
<scofi>
My view is that Haiku incorrectly works with external volumes.
<scofi>
A mirror for example.
<phschafft>
also keep in mind that NTFS was very closed and restricted for a long time.
<N516[m]>
does anyone actually use the Be software?
<N516[m]>
haiku is constantly being linked to BeOS
<phschafft>
this changed that lot. but it may still be in the back of the head when evaluating priorities.
<N516[m]>
but its a completely different and far more evolved OS then BeOS ever was
<phschafft>
nephele and I had a discussion on that recently.
<phschafft>
-- as I understand it -- his opinion is that there are two types of people in the Haiku community.
<phschafft>
the first type basically understand Haiku as a alternative version of BeOS. objecting anything that is not 'as BeOS did it'.
<phschafft>
and the second type just wants to get Haiku forward, open to every change that is an improvement.

<N516[m]> "haiku is constantly being linked..." <- 32 bit builds are still totally binary compatible as I'm aware, and that's always going to be a niche that is popular with retro computing enthusiasts. Maybe it's not used every day, but someone out there will breathe a sigh of relief when they realize they can run their old stuff. Similar to how I don't really *need* to be running OS/2 on one of my laptops, but it sure is neat when I run

scofi: If you build haiku yourself, you have to use a profile where openssl is enabled, somehow it is still optional. You can either use the release profile (jam @release-anyboot) or customise things using build/jam/UserBuildConfig

i just hope that it wont be a strain on future development to keep the beos spirit
<PulkoMandy>
There's a difference between keeping the spirit and keeping the compatibiliy
<PulkoMandy>
Especially as BeOS spirit was essentially "what if we built an OS from the ground up to cut away all the legacy technicnl debt?"

Any way to mount ssh directory for use in file managers that do not support that connectivity?
<PetePete>
I currently use Kommander for moving files to and from sftp folders but would also like to use SpaceFM
<PetePete>
Sorry... MC (Midnight Commander, as it were)

augiedoggie even if you lower the cpus to only one?

on one cpu it's fine usually

cpu cores* (in virtualbox settings)

i tested the midnight command sftp link the other day when updating the libssh2 package

commander*

augiedoggie Sorry, my question was malformed. I currently use ssh in mc to browse remote directories. Was wondering if there was a system-wide way of mounting those directories so I could browse theem in SpaceFM for example
