dalme_: they tell me it could be a client problem, for example converse.js don't implement private messages in MUC (which may be how you receive the IRC messages) or may block messages from people not in your roster. Which clients did you use?

I tried with dino-im (version 0.2, pretty old) and then profanity (which is the client I used to use and never gave me any problems with private messages on chatrooms)

Link Mauve tells me he can enable logs temporarily on irc.jabberfr.org to see if the messages are forwarded to you from there. And also that Dino 0.2 is indeed extremely old and not a great idea for testing :)
