anyway, i always feel that bfs seems a bit slow compared to my experience with win7 on the same machine
<Guest7731>
Wait, I should remove the full stops from there
<Guest7731>
Yeah, still hangs. Weird.
<Guest7731>
It's unironically faster for me to just rewrite this patch on a Linux machine and then push it to Gerrit, which is what I've done sometimes, resulting in some awful fails.

would be super weird, this is a VM on an SSD. has happened to me across different installs tho

i was thinking of creating code that "bounces" the location of new windows by calculating the position of the furthest points and putting them some place else if they are out of the bounds of the screen, but wondered if 'discouraging' the user from opening that many windows like that could be a better idea instead

x512[m]: I fixed lots of Vulkan issues with descriptors today, just telling if you want to test TDME2 again with Vulkan on Haiku. :)
<andreasdr>
x512[m]: Also this kind of memory usage should be reduced a lot now.
<jmairboeck>
waddlesplash: I used VirtualBox with 2 virtual cores normally. I try now turning it down to 1 and try again. I had a few KDLs today, the VM mostly idling, but it is much better than before.
<waddlesplash>
jmairboeck: yes, I commented on the ticket
<jmairboeck>
I have seen that
<waddlesplash>
I suspect this may actually be due to an oldie ticket about bad performance in VirtualBox
<waddlesplash>
(actually an even older issue, it's been a problem for years)
<waddlesplash>
seeing as nobody else has replicated this one after the last change
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Which reminds me that I should update the VirtualBox docs on the Haiku site some time...

I can also try it in Hyper-V again, but that runs on different physical hardware also (if it helps)

did you invade iraq without telling us, waddlesplash
<waddlesplash>
well, I am an american, so...
<waddlesplash>
I was a little too young to have an opinion about that in 2002
<nephele>
It's never too late to have an opinion
<waddlesplash>
indeed not.
<waddlesplash>
we largely stay away from political conversations here, though, and let's keep it that way
<Guest7731>
i was mo
<Guest7731>
mostly trying to ask if you are personally responsible for all of it xD
<waddlesplash>
well in that case the answer is definitely "no" :-p
<nephele>
seems unlikely
<Guest7731>
i honestly hate when people use "americans, british, germans", that kind of thing, but that's besides the point
<Guest7731>
unless if it's within a clear context of parody
<nephele>
Yes, damn germans!

anyways, haiku!

waddlesplash: I'm going to try and resubmit the patch for webkit, i don't suppose you have a webkit bugs account now you'd like me to CC?
<waddlesplash>
don't think I do
<waddlesplash>
which patch is this?
<nephele>
The one you made for USE_SYSTEM_MALLOC with the signal slots thingy
<waddlesplash>
ah very good
<waddlesplash>
no I don't seem to have an account
<nephele>
Okay, I do hope that I can start upstreaming with this patch, to give me some experience to interact with webkit
<nephele>
let me know if you have one in the future and are interested to view that
<waddlesplash>
alright
<nephele>
(I think leavengood and pulkomandy might have webkit bugs accounts too, but i don't know for sure)

hi, having some weird compilation issues, does anybody know why this fails? i normally look for other examples of headers being included somewhere in the system and try to import the libraries that are being used in the jamfile (only saw "interface", which i tried to import after `be` and before `tracker`), but that isn't quite working
