how accurate the Be Book is regarding Haiku? everything there is correct except for the new stuff? (that obviously is not the book)

nolesswrong: correct. BeBook is accurate to the "minimum API"
mmu_man has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<kallisti5[m]>
that's the BeOS compatible one. We have a lot of extensions onto the API around laying out window controls and stuff to make it more modern
<kallisti5[m]>
The "Haiku book" is our developers guide including all of the new stuff
<kallisti5[m]>
though... I think it's lacking as well. We need to do better there
<nolesswrong>
thanks. I'm asking because the nightly iso has a local copy of the Be Book but I think it doesnt have a local copy of the Haiku Book.
<nolesswrong>
yes, for example there is a page about BJson on the haiku book but it's not really documented. The code was clear enough so I'm using it anyway.
<kallisti5[m]>
hm. What release? R1/beta2?
<nolesswrong>
nightly and r1/beta3 test, they have a local copy of Be Book and the userguide but not of the Haiku Book. or I dont know where it is.
<kallisti5[m]>
oh... weird. Maybe it was because of the "Haiku book" being incomplete
<kallisti5[m]>
nolesswrong: could you open a bug on dev.haiku-os.org ?
<nolesswrong>
sure.
<nolesswrong>
but it's been like that forever (at least a year), I didnt think it was a bug.

trying a build for rizin atm (in preperation for cutter)
<jessicah>
no idea what you're talking about :p
<Begasus>
;)
<Begasus>
you did a patch on the efi file? (saw something earier in the forum)
<jessicah>
yeah
<Begasus>
is there any difference in the 32bit or 64bit arch in there?
<jessicah>
it should boot 32/64-bit haiku, the loader itself is for an x64 capable system
<jessicah>
well, I think it should, I don't know if anyone's ever tested that or not
aeryndunham has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<Begasus>
on this system (non EFI) the RC installed ok, on the other one (with EFI) I still get a black screen booting the USB-stick (even after replacing the efi file with yours earlier) :)
<Begasus>
but then again, having the same issues with other hrev's on that one
<jessicah>
my patch has nothing to do with that sort of thing
<Begasus>
thought so, just wanted to give it a spin (you never know) :P
<jessicah>
it just fixes the boot menu showing up even though there's an install to boot
<jessicah>
is it a black screen when entering the boot menu?
<jessicah>
I'd just black list non-vesa gfx driver if that's the case
<Begasus>
err ... just tried again, Haiku booted! :)
<jessicah>
might be a driver init issue
