k, got partio to build now, it seems to install some python files in $libDir/python3.7/site-packages (I don't see any installed there atm on my system), would that still be ok? (files are not present in current version at haikuports)

countryboy: webkit is very "close to the metal" with what it does, it asks us to draw text at a position, and then haiku draws the text, it's quite good to use our own stuff with

chromium browser on the other hand is more like a black box, it does stuff renders itself and at the end it only sais "here is this image to display"

webkit is better /for us/, with goals beeing to find bugs in haiku, and make sure our app_server works nicely

It can be that some apis don't work in haiku, webkit forces us to fix them, for example text placement and fallback has been improved a lot for webkit in haiku, and all native apps profit from this

I've compiled up to Webkit 612.1.25 - scrolling/rendering issue is triggered by specific websites - but I have some idea on this issue. App_server seems fully capable of renderting Google Maps and working with Pandora - so it is not the showstopper itself.
