Howdy, folks. I installed MAME using HaikuPorter and now SoftwareUpdater keeps trying to "update" it to the same version. Then it fails to change the package activation in packagefs: Name in use. Pkgman doesn't not do this. Is there a way to fix it so SoftwareUpdater works again?
<mrentropy64>
Pkgman doesn't do that. Not... doesn't not do it...
<bronzie94>
Not not not knot

My other computer doesn't crash with the same gamepad and MAME. I wonder what's up with that?

name in use is not a crash, it's an error from package kit for mounting

I... did not say it was a crash.
<nephele[x]>
"my other computer doesn't crash" i was responding to that, i thought it was in relation to the pkg issue
<mrentropy64>
No, that's the gamepad. A divide by zero error when I run MAME with the Atari Modern Controller plugged in. Also happens when the cat jumps on the switchbox it's attached to, but then it's the keyboard.

My other computer does not crash with MAME and same gamepad. I have not tried throwing the cat at it to see if the keyboard will cause a crash.

But I have photos of those dumps, so I can write 'em up when I get a chance. Maybe it's the USB chipset.

Well, glass elevator is in the past of haiku, before my time, i think it might be a fitting theme for an image for an artbook or so for 20 years of haiku, like, a glassen elevator over the clouds moving up with someone inside with the "R1" level selected :)
<nephele[x]>
Basically have the image in my head, but bringing it to paper or to a screen is what i am terrible at

<mrentropy64>
kallisti5[m]: I haven't used NFS, and there's probably a reason for it, but I don't remember what it was. I could give it a try again and see if it works better for me.
<kallisti5[m]>
the big benefit is if you export nfs, you can mount it like a normal disk under Haiku
<mrentropy64>
Oh, I know. My main NAS is a Windows 10 box, and getting NFS on that is a bear. The NAS I'm using now is a backup because it's old and works with FuseSMB because of the CIFS version.
