<Coldfirex> Howdy
<Coldfirex> Ive been running through cppcheck and it is complaining about syntax for things like this: 'STAILQ_HEAD(, nvme_request) re_queue;'
<Coldfirex> Any problems chaning these to: 'STAILQ_HEAD(nvme_request) re_queue;'
<waddlesplash> Coldfirex: cppcheck is wrong.
<waddlesplash> this is correct syntax, cppcheck is not comprehending these macros
<waddlesplash> if you remove the , it will fail to compile
<Coldfirex> got it, thanks
<Coldfirex> Im just itchy to contribute as Im doing my c++ classes

<nielx[m]> Coldfirex Haiku may not be the best way to work with C++, as syntactically and stylistically most of it is stuck in the late 90s :-)

<HaikuUser2> If you wanted to disable cpu cores at boot how do you do that? UserBootscript, kernel?
<HaikuUser2> Got buggy hyperthreading so want to disable cores #3 and #4
<HaikuUser2> disable_smp true is an option but then only one core is active
<Diver> I don't think that this is possible unless you change it in the kernel somehow

<Begasus> disable SMP in safe mode Diver ?
<Begasus> have to do the same here on my laptop
<Diver> no, disable specific cores
<Begasus> ah :)
<HaikuUser3> That's what I had to do also but then 3/4 cores are disabled
<Begasus> should read more then one line :)
<HaikuUser3> Still, Haiku is very responsive even with a single core on a modern laptop
<Begasus> system doesn't boot here if I don't disable it at boot
<Begasus> yeah, using it as a build system for 64bit here
<HaikuUser3> I can boot with all cores but then crashes galore after a while
<Diver> HaikuUser3: is it an amd cpu?
<Begasus> let's update thing here and check again
<HaikuUser3> No, i5-5200U
johndrinkwater has joined #haiku
<HaikuUser3> but HT is broken so every OS crashes when more than 2 cores are enabled
<HaikuUser3> I can disable #3 and #4 in Windows, Linux and OS/2 so no problems :^)
<HaikuUser3> Haiku is just more all or nothing
<Begasus> can't have it all (still wip) :)
<HaikuUser3> I know you can manually disable cores via the Processcontroller but the OS tends to crash before I get that far
<HaikuUser3> But still! This machine will be a word processor for grandpa and I don't think he'll mind!
<Begasus> The crashes? ;)
<HaikuUser3> Doesn't crash with a single core and still very speedy for writing
HaikuUser has quit [Quit: Vision[0.10.3]: i've been blurred!]
<Begasus> Don't know what happend, but it boots now with all 4 cores here :D

<HaikuUser3> I think it's a hardware fault in my case as I've an almost identical CPU where every core can be enabled
<HaikuUser3> Bad QC over at Lenovo :^P
<Begasus> k, probably know now why I disabled, system freeze ...
<Diver> HaikuUser3: you can disable cpus with Pulse too, here's the code https://git.haiku-os.org/haiku/tree/src/apps/pulse/CPUButton.cpp#n241
HaikuUser has quit [Read error: No route to host]
<HaikuUser3> Better it freezes than silently corrupting files (like it did in Windows for me)
<Begasus> let's see, just disabled 2 cores with Pulse
<Begasus> so far still running

<HaikuUser3> Great! Is it a real quad core or just a dual core with hyperthreading?

<Begasus> Haven't tried that yet after the update

<Begasus> The other laptop is still running R1B2 in VirtualBox, so can't update there (yet)

<BrunoSpr> Qmply2 works perfect!

<Vidrep_64> PulkoMandy, have you had time to look at the trace for WebKit? Was it of any help?
<PulkoMandy> yes
<PulkoMandy> I can see mprotect is not happy for some reason, and I can see that WebKit is reserving 4GB of address space which seems a bit large
<Vidrep_64> If there's anything else I can do, just let me know
<PulkoMandy> it's not the area of Haiku I know best however

<jezek2> PulkoMandy: reserving of 4GB is a trick to remove the need for bounds checking for things like WebAssembly, or just a part of sandbox
<nephele[x]> The investigated bug is about WASM indeed
<PulkoMandy> yes, but it has to be done with overcommitting, otherwise it won't work
<PulkoMandy> it appears to be, in this case
<PulkoMandy> so I'm not sure what's going wrong
