OS X introduced one, but that's not really "Mac“.

Does Haiku have some sort of System Restore tool? I know there are system snapshots, but not sure if there's a tool to revert to snapshots though
<Diver>
there is not

Hmm, we might have to make one then. I was thinking of some sort of lightweight recovery environment allowing people to restore their installation if it doesn't boot and maybe an option to reinstall their OS by downloading system files (like the cloud restore option provided by Windows).
<jt15s[m]>
An option to reset the OS would be good too

Allrighty. So, now I'm looking for <ar.h>. I have no ar.h, and have tried installing different archive development packages. I'm assuming it's part of the GNU binutils?

Not sure, but there is a simple one off of an apple page you could try copying in.

I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

No worries. I'm past it.

anyone know how to resolve the libffi>=6.0.4 issue?

I'm trying to debug something in app_server. Right now, I am rebuilding and reinstalling the entirety of Haiku to iterate. Can someone point me to instructions for replacing just the app)server? TIA
<beaglejoe>

The_Ringmaster: ask HaikuPorts people to do rebuilds
<The_Ringmaster>
do they have a channel here?

no, the'yre in here

or you can file tickets at github

I am so hungry right now... at first I thought you said grubhub.. haha
<PulkoMandy>
otherwise, one common shortcut is to rebuild just the haiku package (jam -q haiku.hpkg) and install the resulting package using pkgman install. It should be faster than rebuilding the whole image
<PulkoMandy>
there is also a jam @update command, I think, but I have not used that for a long time and don't know if it still works
<beaglejoe>
Thanks! I will try both methods
<mrentropy64>
Well, I compiled Code::Blocks.
<mrentropy64>
Now I need to figure out how to get it to run.
<Coldfirex>
Code::Blocks in Haiku?
<mrentropy64>
Coldfirex: Yep.
<Coldfirex>
Nice!
<mrentropy64>
It might be, if I can get it to run
<Coldfirex>
Im currently learning c\c++ using that
<nephele[x]>
I kind of want renpy to have native haiku support
<nephele[x]>
then i could ask visual novel authors to release a version for haiku

since /usr/local would be system wide installatation

Having a slight problem with libtool not wanting to install anywhere but /usr/local though.
<Vidrep_64>
Looks like some conflict issues with updates
<Vidrep_64>
problem 1: package glib2_devel-2.62.0-3 requires devel:libffi>=6.0.4, but none of the providers can be installed
<Vidrep_64>
solution 1:
<Vidrep_64>
- keep libffi_devel-3.2.1-6 from excluded repository
<Vidrep_64>
- keep python-2.7.18-1 from excluded repository
<Vidrep_64>
solution 2:
<Vidrep_64>
- allow deinstallation of glib2_devel-2.62.0-3
<Vidrep_64>
Please select a solution, skip the problem for now or quit.

libtool: error: error: cannot install 'libAstyle.la' to a directory not ending in /usr/local/lib/codeblocks/plugins

[haikuports/haikuports] diversys aa1193c - rebuild packages depending on libffi
<mrentropy64>
I guess. I would kind of expect BSDs to have a /usr/local/, though. I can't figure out how to convince libtool that it's ok to install where I want it to go, which is odd, because it's using the one in /boot/system/bin
<mrentropy64>
(I made that imgpile account and uploaded the pic using WebPositive, so \O/)
<jmairboeck>
Diver: guile1 is also affected by the libffi bump. But I have a PR open for that right now anyway, so that can probably wait until that is merged (if the discussion ends in favor of it ...)
<MikeHaiku>
That's weird. Printed a page to my printer. It said it failed to print the test page, but the printer printed it. Though, it's a bit weird looking with items overlapping and it defaulted to mono
<Diver>
jmairboeck: is it affected due to python?
<jmairboeck>
no, it depends on libffi

<nephele[x]>
MikeHaiku, printer test page is constructed like a normal view/window :), it picks OS colors and wrong font size for some stuff currently
<mrentropy64>
Coldfirex: So far, the answer seems to be start over with ./configure --prefix=pathyouwant
<MikeHaiku>
nephele[x] thanks for the information :)
<jmairboeck>
Diver: I am not sure if it is actually used by anything (yet), so I'm not sure if it is important for now. If you do, I'll have to rebase my PR.
