My email suddenly stopped working?
<coolcoder613_32>
It was connecting via POP3 to Outlook...
<coolcoder613_32>
And now it is saying...
* coolcoder613_32
presses check for mail now
<coolcoder613_32>

"Operation would block" just means that the operation takes longer than expected, but not enough to cause timeout... It's pretty normal state when using non-blocking I/O...
<coolcoder613_mac>
Hmm... it also fails with that when i try to ssh into my mac...
<coolcoder613_mac>
But the email wasn't working, not just taking longer than usual
<coolcoder613_mac>
same with ssh

coolcoder613_mac: It's not-fatal error, but some applications might treat it incorrectly as fatal error... Any operation that returns that error should be retried a little later...
<coolcoder613_mac>
appaently mail_daemon does not handle that correctly
<coolcoder613_mac>
apparently
<Monni>
I haven't worked on mail_daemon ;) Last time I worked on Bluetooth driver, but that was years ago...

Monni?
<Begasus>
The Monni? ;)
<Monni>
Begasus: The one and only Monni...
<Begasus>
Hi there! My Enlish tutor :D
<Begasus>
How's it going?
<Begasus>
English* (see I'm already getting nervous) :D
<Monni>
Begasus: Ok, I guess... Pondering if I should port some of my work projects to Haiku... Already ported to FreeBSD and OpenBSD...
<Begasus>
What's stopping you Monni? Plenty of tools around now compared to the BeOS days
<Monni>
Begasus: I'm not really familiar in how thread scheduler works in Haiku.... Never really looked how different it is from Linux or FreeBSD...
<Begasus>
That's one for the masters :)
<Begasus>
Monni, only one way to find out I guess? :)
<Monni>
Begasus: I guess... I've used Python and JavaScript mostly lately, so not much time for working on C++ code...
<andreasdr[m]>
Hi there.
<Begasus>
We could use someone to bring us javaFX :)
<Begasus>
Hi there andreasdr[m]
<Begasus>
Monni, for both there are pretty recent version for NetBeans and PyCharm available for 64bit ;)
<Monni>
Begasus: I'm old school... I still use pico and nano ;)
<Begasus>
No excuse either there :P
<Begasus>
not sure about pico ...
<Monni>
Begasus: I just installed BeShare yesterday... Took a while as the networking is really flaky in Haiku...
<Begasus>
Pretty good here (external USB dongle)
<Monni>
Begasus: I use integrated chipset.... Has Bluetooth, Ethernet and WiFi...
<BrunoSpr>
Maybe something with my Network wrong, will try
<BrunoSpr>
try reboot then

<cocobean>
The HTML5 score is as good as Safari 17.2.
<cocobean>
The HTML5 score for MS Edge v119 is: 528
<cocobean>
So now, Haiku's web browser experience is at a decent home user level for daily driving use..

<Begasus>
only one I'm having issues so far is LinkdIn
<Begasus>
but that runs OK in Web+ :)
<Begasus>
I'm good, only thing I need to switch for is some online banking (could be possible, haven't tried) :D
<Skipp_OSX>
using horizontal mini-mode Deskbar and About System Replicant :)
<Begasus>
default Deskbar, and replicant up too :)
<Skipp_OSX>
I guess the replicant isn't getting updated correctly after my latest changes though as it looks like there is a combination of the two which looks ok but I wonder if you create a new instance of the about system replicant if it will remove the extra lines.
<Skipp_OSX>
Should be 1 title line, 1 text line for each section, not 2 text lines for the first 3 anymore
<Begasus>
would be nice if the border could disapear :)
<Skipp_OSX>
you know what I could do is hide the border when you hide replicants
<Begasus>
I'm not seeing any lines in there?
<Skipp_OSX>
I'm talking about in Bruno's screenshots above
<Begasus>
ah :)
<Skipp_OSX>
you don't like the border? I needed it for testing to see if the strings were too long to fit in the box.

Lunovus it can produces them too
<Anarchos>
sorry, not the recipe but the patchset.
<Lunovus>
I thought it could produce them too
<Lunovus>
Sorry, just sweeping over the docs
<Anarchos>
no recipes can't be automatically produced, cause they contain information you decide to put in your package : the source urI/version, the description....
<Lunovus>
Yeah, was just asking to build a recipe
<Lunovus>
In, err, building something FROM a recipe, not cooking my own..
BrunoSpr has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]

Lunovus just look for a simple recipe and adapt it
<Lunovus>
Nah, really, I just want to build something from an existing port
<Lunovus>
Then debug it *gg*
<Lunovus>
SCNR
<Lunovus>
OK, hard questions:
<Lunovus>
How to debug problems with multihreading in the kernel on Haiku?
<Lunovus>
Let's say I see this assertion failed "RTThreadPreemptIsEnabled(NIL_RTTHREAD)" on kernel level
jmairboeck has quit [Quit: Konversation terminated!]
<Lunovus>
Works a LOT of times, seems to fail sometimes
<Lunovus>
The bigger the number of cores used in a VM, the worse it gets..
<Lunovus>
Not my code
<Lunovus>
It's from the VirtualBox guest additions file system
<Lunovus>
It kernel panics on this assertion. Makes me think one thread was NOT preemptive..
<Lunovus>
What could cause this?
<Lunovus>
Dang, another (different) crash. I'm using the wrong virtual machine I guess
<Lunovus>
Anybody know if VirtualBox and VMWare play together fine? On a Win11 host?

My Win11 is already borken enough, how much worse can it get?
<Lunovus>
But I got Haiku running on bare metal, so there is no need to make it work (good) on a VM
<Lunovus>
Apart from playing sounds..
<Lunovus>
Can VMware read *.vdis?

Narf, Haiku R1Beta4 won't boot on my VMware WS 17 player
<Lunovus>
OK, scratch that, had 4MiB RAM on a DOS machine
<Anarchos>
Lunovus R1Beta4 is a bit old, nightly images are stable enough to let you run a more decent and recent version of Haiku

Got it up and running in VWware Player 17 now
<Lunovus>

<Lunovus>
(Different install)
<Lunovus>
Would have hoped to get it running fine in VirtualBox
<Lunovus>
But at least VirtualBox and VMware seem to play along nicely along one Win11 host..
