Hey topfuel, one option is, if you have the hda driver, is to blacklist the driver and use the opensound driver instead... for some devices it has better support, best would be to support a bug report in any case

If it is a fresh install it is likely a driver issue if other OS's had working audio. Nephele's suggestion worked for me

you can then install "Open Audio" using HaikuDepot

You basically need to exclude the hda driver file from the haiku package from beeing loaded, and then the opensounddriver will be used instead if it is installed

I had the same problem with my new laptop.I installed OpenSound but didn't uninstall hda.OpenSound couldn't find any devices,hda found it but it didn't work.Is there a chance that it makes a difference if I uninstall hda first?I'm a bit afraid to break it even more.

I had exactly the same symptoms as what you described. Think I installed Open Sound 1st, then excluded

You don't really uninstall it, blacklisting is merely telling the package system to ignore one file from the haiku package

That's great :) - I had video problems with the MBP too - had to exlude those drivers as well, and WiFi didn't work on it either, so it was rather crippled (if very zippy)

I've had success with all hardware I've tried, although the MBP involved a lot of sweat... I gave up after a package management meltdown incident and converted it to Linux - but now actually using the semi-ancient Haiku compaq as a daily driver co-pilot to my current (MacOs) MBP

I got Haiku to boot on nearly every device as well but on some of them,it's a bit limited/complicated.For example on my Medion Akoya both the touch screen and touch pad don't work so I always need a USB mouse.Also Wifi is detected and finds my router but I can't connect to it.On my GPD Win the touch screen doesn't work too,but the joystick does so that's not a big problem.That the screen is always rotated by 90 degree is a big

problem,however.On somewhat older and more standard hardware,Haiku works really good.On my Acer TravelMate,the sound is all that's missing.On my Lenovo 3000 N200 everything works perfectly.And on my desktop computer,only built-in Wifi doesn't work but it works over an Ethernet to Wifi adapter and that's fine for me.

Sure,exotic hardware is always a bit difficult.And I also didn't expect the touch screen to work...but if both the touch screen and touch pad of a device don't work and I want to use it as a portable device,it's a bit problematic.That's the main reason why I bought my new Acer TravelMate.It doesn't even have a touch screen,but the touch pad works so I can use it.

With any GUI OS other than Haiku it runs like a dog. It only has 2GB - was looking at spending $15 to double its RAM, but a modern i5 probably is needed sooner rather than later
