Question for developers: How do I use the Debugger? I am trying to test it with Tracker and am unable. I set the DEBUG variable in my UserBuildConfig, and it is building the binary (it shows up in the debug_1 folder and is much bigger than on my normal install); I install the nightly image and copy over the source code, to the partition, but I always get a bunch of popups asking me to 'locate' lots of information files, followed by some
<PawanYr>
unclickable text that says 'Source file unavailable.' Not sure what I'm doing wrong here?
<kallisti5[m]>
PawanYr: weird.. so the debug var should enable debugging symbols within the binaries. They still need to be matched up to the source files if you want to see the exact source lines where a crash happen
<kallisti5[m]>
generally, Debugger lets you locate them if it can't find them itself automatically
<PawanYr>
Yeah, that's what my googling indicated, but it doesn't seem to allow me to unless I'm missing where that option is. Is there some specific file structure that's needed? I just copied over the src directory to the home folder but that didn't help
<kallisti5[m]>
I think it only asks once for the source files. if you select the wrong thing it might not ask again
<kallisti5[m]>
I think it wants you to select the top level directory of the sources, and not the actual source file?
<PawanYr>
I've also been trying on fresh live anyboot USBs and it doesn't ask there either (unless it doesn't work on live anyboot?)

PawanYr: I merged your patch :)
<waddlesplash>
thanks for working on it!
<waddlesplash>
that was definitely a lot of rounds of review, but that's kind of expected for these sorts of things
<PawanYr>
Yeah, I saw that! Exciting; I've been using Haiku for years now and I finally found it in me to to try to actually change something that was bothering me :)
<PawanYr>
Was expecting it to be the reverse scroll one tbh, that one's like 5 lines
<PawanYr>
But I'll take it!
<PawanYr>
Anyway, now that I actually have the source code on my machine there's all sorts of things I want to change or fix, the only question is if I'll have enough time for any of it . . .
<PawanYr>
Also, thanks for putting up with me as a new contributor; I know I screwed up the coding style bunch at first, I'll try to do less of that next time

Habbie, thanks for the link, but that is what I meant. How can ordinary user understand that!? Me! Lot of info about how browser and server work and how they are connected to each
<Habbie>
this article might be aimed more at beginning developers, yes
<BrunoSpr>
To difficult and the ordinary user should not worry about it
<BrunoSpr>
No for me I just need to know if it is easy to use and save to use, not more
<Habbie>
as far as i know, passkeys, when implemented well, are easy and secure

Habbie, thanks maybe I try after I understand the concept! I need only one passkey then?

One passkey to rule them all?

no, you have a passkey per app or site you use
<Habbie>
so you can't be tricked into using a passkey on some phishing website

Gonna reup my question from yesterday because I've had no luck figuring it out: does anyone know why I can't get the debugger to work with Tracker? I've got the app and kit paths set as DEBUG in UserBuildConfig, but I always just get 'Source path unavailable' whenever I try to debug, and no way to select source files
<augiedoggie>
usually if you click on that text it will drop down a list of choices for the file
